  1. Amazon US are now refusing to ship them here anymore but it seems Amazon UK will still ship them. Approx AU$295 for a 16GB model shipped currently.
  2. Except LG OLED TVs don't use blue OLEDs, they use a white OLED and pass it thru filters in a patented process. This is how LG is able to economically manufacture OLED TVs while Samsung which used RGB OLED pulled the pin on production for reasons including the blue OLED lifespan problem.
  3. LOL. The edit was because I couldn't type anything after the quote so I was unable to respond. I'm not sure WTF happened but the only way I was able to complete my response was to post the quote without any comment from myself and then later edit it again EDIT: And yeh I usually edit for the same reason as you outlined
  4. Umm an AVR is the amplifier bit that feeds video from the source device to the TV and makes the speakers do things from the sound information it receives along with the picture
  5. The issue here is production yield, it's barely economical so they come at an astronomical price unfortunately. Given the production issues we are lucky to have 65" OLED screens at barely affordable prices.
  6. Picture quality should be the same between the B6, E6 & G6, The 950T is the previous generation panel (though represents a good buy at current run out prices). Picture quality on the 950T is excellent, it's just that it's improved again on the other 3 models which are all 2016 panels. The B6 has no 3D while the other 3 do have 3D. There is also a new C6 model for 2016 which is curved (as apposed to flat) which does have 3D and the same picture quality as the B6/E6/G6. The E6 and G6 have a sound bar that is permanently attached to the screen at the base however the beefier G6 sound bar folds behind the panel for wall mounting while the E6 does not. The G6 electronics (HDMI ports etc) are all in the sound bar base exposing most of the extremely thin panel to viewing while the E6 has a smaller sound bar and the electronics are mounted to the lower rear section of the panel making the thinness of the panel less striking to the eye. Both the E6 and G6 feature an ultra thin (2.57mm) picture on glass design which has to be seen to believed. The B6 and C6 also have quite thin panels too but not as thin as the picture on glass design. The 950T is also very thin but slightly thicker again than the C6/B6. So thick to thinner its 950T > B6/C6 > E6/G6. So for the picture on glass models you're paying for the sound bar and stunning visual design of the screen. The B6 is the value point in the 2016 models, provided you don't game (the input lag is higher on the B6 vs the E6) or want the stunning passive 3D of OLED. Not sure where you are but my local Hardly Normal in Nunawading (Vic) has all the 2015 and 2016 OLED models on display together in every size and shape. Great way to compare them all. They even have the older curved 65EF960T model on display (don't buy this - no HDR on HDMI) and even the curved 55" 910T 1080p model.
  7. Video Pro has stock and first shipments went out last Friday afternoon. I got mine yesterday (Monday) in Melbourne. Super happy! I'm so glad I finally got one, it's everything I expected and more. Amazon kind of did me a favour by taking so long I was faced with the option to cancel and get it cheaper in Australia even despite the big currency shift caused by Brexit. PS: Anyone after the Samsung UHD player cheap, see the for sale section
  8. Hi all. I have a mint condition Samsung UBD-K8500 4K UHD BD player for sale. Remote has been used for less than 5 minutes (then I used my Logitech Ultimate), stickers and original protective plastic coating are still on the top face of the player untouched from factory. All original box contents as new. Been used for 2 or so months while I waited for the much more expensive Panasonic UHD BD player and is now surplus to my needs.Consider it a fully tested but otherwise as new unit with the current firmware installed. $400. Prefer Melbourne local pickup (CBD or Eastern Suburbs).
  9. And finally this player is to be released in Australia in the next couple of weeks! https://www.videopro.com.au/p-9896-panasonic-dmp-ub900gnk-4k-ultra-hd-bluray-player.aspx http://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/home-entertainment/blu-ray-and-dvd-players/dmp-ub900gnk.html
  10. One user has even had his G6 already delivered on Thursday Yep they exist in the wild now!
  11. Odd.... presume it's not dropping back to 2K due to HDCP 2.2 issues and not being fed via a non-4K receiver?
  12. Well Amazon UK did the inevitable and emailed me overnight to advise that my Panasonic player has been delayed. The latest date is was meant to arrive in my hands was yesterday by 9pm. They are now saying it will arrive sometime between mid June and mid July. Glad I grabbed a Samsung player from Rio last weekend now
  13. Correct and I chose to pay in GBP and not AUD due to the usual spread built in. Wishing I hadn't in hindsight. That said Amazon didn't take a customs security deposit originally due to the exchange rate meaning it was well under $1K at the time. Under their policy if the customs deposit is not enough they wear the difference or if it's too much, they refund the difference. I'm unsure what happens if they take more than a month to fulfill an order and the goal posts shift too much. Perhaps they will wear it for me. Time will tell.
  14. A new and nice in depth technical review of the Panasonic player. Certainly the one to beat for now. http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-ub900-201605154293.htm Mine still hasn't shipped yet, meanwhile the AUD keeps sliding against the pound and now the player is past the AUD$1K GST threshold
  15. Rio actually warned me about this when I bought my player saying that someone had brought back a player saying it wouldn't play discs and it turned out to be finger prints on the disc.
  16. Lol that post reminded me of the old JB Hifi ads where they smashed the yellow glass and said they had crazy prices! Here in Melbourne quite a few stores got small shipments last week and quickly sold out of them. Looking right now the only store in Melbourne with any stock left is the Brighton store and I'd warrant that is because they got their expected shipment later than the others. My local one in Nunawading still had their demo unit left on Saturday afternoon but it would appear that is sold now too. Rio Hifi say they bought hundreds of them and sold them all. They now have more on order. The only other major store I know of that's had any is HN. I haven't been into my local one recently to see if they have one but I know HN have filled pre-orders made for this player. It's not listed in their online store though.
  17. The 2nd generation Oppo UHD BD I assume you mean Edit: Sorry quote fail there cwt, can't fix....
  18. So I caved and grabbed one of these from the friendly people at Rio in Preston this morning. I was told they've been selling like hotcakes with several hundred passing thru Rio and they're almost all gone with more on the way.The Revenant has lived up to expectation. It's just jaw dropping and really shows how good this format and OLED can be.
  19. Hmm not a good experience thus far. I hope my experience with the Panasonic unit is more pleasant and is worth the extra $$. I suspect I wouldn't have these issues with the Samsung anyway because my whole setup should have no issues with 4K@60Hz 4:4:4, cable issues aside.
  20. Now surplus to my needs due to very recently needing to upgrade to something with 4K & HDR support, this otherwise excellent 7.1 channel receiver with 7 HDMI 1.4a (1080p + 3D) inputs is now available to a good new home. It comes it its original box with all original packaging, manuals, cables, remote and even the unused speaker cable sticker labels (my cables were already labelled from the previous receiver). It looks like new and the remote virtually is having never been used beyond day 1 after which my Logitech Harmony remote took over duties and the supplied remote (like all my others) went into storage. It weighs in over 20kgs so I'd prefer local pickup which would either be from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne or if you please, from the CBD during business hours. For those unsure of what features this model has, the link below should inform. It was purchased through official Australian channels from a HiFi specialist well known to us all. Photos can be provided on request. It spent its life inside a well ventilated HiFi cabinet and was fully populated with equipment and speakers during its service. A very capable and solid performing unit and not light weight or low end. http://www.uk.onkyo.com/en/products/tx-nr808-35421.html?tab=Details - My unit is black, not silver! Looking for offers circa $600.
  21. To anyone looking for a player at a JB store near them, they've landed in many stores on the east coast now: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-home-entertainment/players-recorders/samsung/samsung-ubd-k8500-4k-hdr-blu-ray-player/956335/
  22. JB stores apparently get stock of the players from tomorrow and have been told to pull the discs from display until they get players.
