  1. Both TV's I have.. I took the back cover off... disconnected the tiny inbuilt speakers. Where there is enough depth behind and within the reach of each of the original speaker wires with the little spade connectors, I drilled 2 holes in the back cover and fit some stumpy little banana sockets and now use those to connect what ever 8ohm efficient speakers I want. I've used a few different compact bookshelf speakers. Currently using some small 2way floor standers in the bedroom where evening tv and movies are watched and in the lounge I'm using some concrete audiospheres with 6" coral driver. Never had any issues or complaints from my TVs' Obviously, the amp inside the tv isn't the best, but using half decent speakers with it and some mild tweaking of the "user mode" 5 or 6 band EQ,.. it's 1000 times better than the crap amp and ultra crap inbuilt speakers combination, that to me, is intolerable.. I have to have intelligible sound for any tv viewing or radio, which I listen to for background. I like using the original remote,.. keeps it simple. No extra remote or amp to turn on and off and is power efficient too. For a full movie experience I use the big system and can dial in the speakers connected to the tv for dialogue / speech if needed and helps. My TV's are out of warranty, so don't have to worry about that. I modified them to suit me. It's easy to switch back too, for what ever reason.
  2. I saw these Kingfisher Audio speakers in person yesterday at The Tree - O Gallery, and their finish and attention to detail is hard to beat. They also had one of their A16 speaker crossovers assembled and out for all to see, with an explanation of a crossovers purpose for those not in the know, and I was glad to see it comprised of quality components, including Jantzen Cross Caps and inductors. What I heard within a few tracks of listening, was fast and clean. As expected, bass was limited by the sheer size, layout and typical hard reflective surfaces of a gallery space. I have no doubt these speakers will perform beautifully in a suitable sized room.
  3. Many of them would have made it across without issue going forward if they rolled through nice and quietly, travelling at the same speed as their own wake... They are all driving through with fear and the belief that momentum is what will get them to the other side and beyond. I didn't see one vehicle do it correctly and yes, I remind myself, these are video's of failures... Anyway, I doubt these are tourists, they'd be mostly locals, who should know better if by no other means than by other peoples failures right there in front of them. They are lining up to have a crack ! ! it's any wonder they draw a crowd of spectators. Cringe worthy watching stalled cars being pulled out and they are still in gear.. the person in the tow vehicle, not checking when stalled car wont budge if it's in neutral etc,.. just pulls and yanks even harder on the car with a locked up engine. No one has a clue.. but then these are all the fails ..

  5. I really wanna know what Nan is doing out at 3am ? ?
  6. aussievintage is onto it ! I've played with similar looking Chinese phono boards that definitely look like through holes and are not. A simple continuity test proved they weren't. I soldered the top of the holes around the pins and it was all go !
  7. Hi Geoff, I'm interested if WA post is cost prohibitive...
  8. Those Verbatim discs pete_mac refers to, are some of the best cd discs for recording music onto IMO No exposed thin aluminium foil write surface to get easily scratched or damaged by corrosion / mildew / acid from fingers etc. The write foil is totally encapsulated.... high UV resistance, designed for lifetime music storage and look the business ! Show us a picture of the actual disc itself if you want to open carton.

  11. It seems you have overlooked the middle link in your audio chain.. as you have only mentioned swapping "inputs" to your pre-amp and no method of eliminating your pre-amp and or the interconnects between the pre-amp and the power amplifiers. Indeed, swapping the input into the pre-amp L-R ,..is swapping the audio signal and enabled you to eliminate your source... but from the input of your pre-amp, to the input of your power amp.. nothing other than "correct" L and R channel signal was changed ! To eliminate further possibilities.. Swap the interconnect cable, complete, between your pre-amp and power-amp, left to right and right to left. If the problem remains to the right amp and speaker... Next is to narrow down if it is your pre-amp.... by swapping the ends of the interconnects at your "pre-amp OUTPUT" RCA's from left to right and right to left. If pain persists.....
  12. Low output MM cartridge into low gain phono stage into CD input... triple whammy ! Many CD/DVD inputs also have the input level governed with a resistor to match the high output of a CD with the traditional outputs of TAPE, AUX, TUNER, and "typical" +40db PHONO. Doing so normalises listening levels when switching from one input to another. If you have one of TAPE, AUX, free on the amp.. try that for the time being. Why not use the on board phono input in the Denon.. it's likely going to be better than driving the receiver to max along with the noise floor. ?
  13. What music do you mostly listen to ? You would likely benefit from better sensitivity than the B&W 685's, 87dB/ with the Emotiva amp ( as nice as the B&W's look ) Front port or sealed would be easier to implement given your constraints.. I checked out your post to suggest some smallish, efficient floorstanding speakers. then saw you had discounted using them... They may take up more "visual" space but much the same "physical" space as stand mount speakers, with the benefits of a larger enclosure... perhaps even a driver dedicated to, or to reinforce the low end, could provide very satisfying audio.
  14. American Cherry veneer. Forgot how nice a timber it is... Very nicely done too !
  15. That component rack is pretty insane too..! ! What make / brand is it ..?
  16. AWESOME looking speakers... Nice execution from Onkyo there. !
  17. Love the chassis layout.. Well Done ! !
  18. Saw these here in the F.S section a couple of days ago.. Look the part and Seas drivers are very good generally speaking.. They share very similar crossover points to the ATC's Might do the job if the ATC's prove to be too difficult to get your hands on.
  19. Make sure the tape monitor switch is in the correct position... Show us a picture of the front and rear panel.
  20. 2 of these are sold.. 2 still available. Contact me for details if you are interested in a pair Thanks
  21. There is also often an overlap between different "parts in stock" when a transition is made between one model / series and the next.. so anything is possible !
  22. I only saw one picture with the larger dust cover on google images after Glenn mentioned his were larger... It was on an auction site and clearly showed on the cast chassis between the magnet and face T2619 MK2 For some reason now the images won't load There was also this written in the item description.. The T2619 is an upgraded later variant to the T1600, although it can of course be used as a replacement for the T1600 ( its dust cap may be larger ).
  23. Hi Simon, The price is as the listing says Postage to the UK would be very expensive, and the way things are, probably take at least a couple of months. The drivers weigh close to 4kg each... plus packaging... it adds up and nothing gets out of Oz cheap.
