Mate where'd you get the WA cover wouldn't mind one of those myself?

I’ve posted here somewhere. I’ll find it later. Another guy made me one when I asked for a quote. His mistake but tried to help him. He’d take any offer. If that doesn’t work I’d recommend the guys who did mine and fairly cheap.

How much?

Yeah.

Last year i sold one of my CA1000s and bought a new Weston Topaz with EL34 (6CA7).

Had a custom perspex lid made and the MS22 is off getting LexBoxed as we speak.

Made some speaker cable (no sonic difference, just wanted to ensure no interference and make them look nice).

Added an iFY iDSD DAC and some software like Bit Perfect.

No recent photos, here's some older ones.

So now i have two primary sources. The Full Analogue, Valve Phono, Valve Amp and a Full Digital, Computer, DAC, Solid State. But what i tend to do is use the computer and DAC into the Valve amp. Its absolutely sublime. Valves and Ultra revealing NS1000xw seem to be a perfect patch.

I am starting to play records a little more, my daughter is showing an interest in them too.

I am on the hunt for a suitable retro lounge for this room and i have starting planning the next phase of records on walls/rock n roll posters. I already added an ultra warm light bulb and i'm on the look out for a vintage flokati and this room will be a little like a retro time machine :)

What about you? @Willmax

@JPete9 Your setup is looking killer with the valve amp alongside the PF800 driving those speakers, really nicely done there.

My main setup hasn't changed much in terms of gear, over the xmas break I travelled to Melbourne and coincidentally was finally able to buy the NS1000 which now are my main set of speakers with the NS690 a close second.

I've had my Yamaha YP-D6 turntable for a number of years now and it matches really well with the Yamaha CA2010 & CT1010, however I've been thinking about upgrading to a higher end turntable like the Yamaha YP-D8 or YP-D10 but these are a bit hard to come by.

I've tried to deep my toes into some Sansui gear but have been very unlucky with Sansui stuff so far.

I'd love to one day be able to let go of some of my surplus gear and go for a valve amp like yourself to complement my solid state vintage setup.

Another significant change which has really made a big difference, particularly to my listening enjoyment, was to finally be able to have a dedicated listening room setup at home.

By the way I'm using a Denon DL110 MC cart and it is amazingly good sound and great value for money.

You can see the latest configuration in the thread below, although the TT is the video is a YP-D4 which I have since moved on.

@Willmax thank you. i'm very pleased. I've seen/listened to your NS1000 thread.

Not sure which models, but i do see YP model TTs on Gumtree sometimes. I much prefer the cool 70s look of the YP D6 over the PF800 - but the PF800 just works so well, i cant move it on until it has some kind of irrecoverable failure.

Keep your eye out, the Westons seem to come up in batched and some kinda cheap on here.

@BATMAQN Sorry i intended to respond by forgot.

Roger at http://plasprodev.com.au/ he seems happy to make small items, like the covers and a couple of rack things i want. He made the cover in the pic from email only. Very simple and easy to deal with. I provided an exact dimension of what i wanted.

All good thanks for the link.

Got a range of mods approved. Records on walls, any diffusion or dampening i need and speaker stands. So stage 1, more records on walls is done. I had something made by Roger at PlasProDev - he is happy to make anything and its not super expensive.

I know some folks will think it looks too crowded all close together, but it looks great in person. Biggest issue is the plastic, i have lots of original plastic covers, i need to put the records up neater...for now i just had to see them up there. Plus the lighting and pic with my iphone is average...i sit in very low light usually.

Posters to follow for the centre area (any suggestions?).

Speaker stands come soon to drop the speakers down 150mm.

That was a great effort @JPete9 well done and an awesome collection to boot!

For the middle bit, perhaps a nice vintage poster of one of your favourite artist?

I'd have to agree with you though, it does look a little bit crowded there, maybe now that you have it all up you could easily enough vacate one or two rows for comparison sake.

Sometimes Less is More - obviously that does not apply to amplifiers and speakers though :thumb:

Yeah its hard to show in the photo, but i sit 4m back from that wall, it doesnt look so crowded to me...but i get your point.

The gap in the middle is 800mm wide, again it doesnt look that wide in the photo. I'll chill out tomorrow, have some scotch, pontificate on some poster choices and order online, while i'm having a listen.

Many of the records are no longer that playable, sadly we werent that good at looking after our records in the 70s and 80s in my family. But many are the originals, bought by my dad in the 70s and me my sister in the 70s and 80s. So its the closest thing i have to a time machine, i play old music and surround my self with artefacts from my youth. It can be pretty relaxing after 1.5hrs in peak hour traffic!

Since my last post i have spent a fair bit of time and money. I spend a lot of time measuring and treating the room. Still not happy and endlessly locked down in Victoria, i decided to try and  go as far as i could on these speakers in this room.

Recently I did the following.

I made mirrored copies of the original Yamaha spec speaker stands. Added a Denafrips Venus II, PI2AES and decent cables and tidal and qobuz and roon.

I added some Tung Sol EL34B output tubes and Bills WE RCA interconnects and Speaker cables. Then added Audio Principe power cables.

Added isolation feet for everything and turned the tweeters down a little...I remeasured it all again, and made some filters for Roon and I finally feel like I have something pretty special…not just a bunch of vintage hifi gear. Next is Pro Treatments...but need to do some saving.

I am still chasing a poster for the middle.
