Muffins to die for

Featured Replies

Many of us in Sydney know The Bourke Street Bakery. Exceptionally fine sour dough breads, stunning lamb and harissa sausage rolls, excellent pies and a range of other fine foods. One of my favourites is, of course, the raspberry/chocolate muffins. Just fabulous. Anyway, SWMBO decided to have a go at making them (I must have done something nice on the weekend) on Sunday. Incredibly good! Even better, they're chocka with butter (and fresh raspberries), so they taste pretty damned good a couple of days later.

Highly recommended for any of you budding chefs out there (this is the Bourke St recipe):

DO NOT dust with icing sugar! Use Demerara sugar instead.

And for anyone in Sydney who has managed to avoid visiting the Bourke Street Bakery, you need to seek professional psycho-therapy:

Apologies to the coeliacs.

There's a cup cake shop in that shopping center in Melbourne, the one with the old lead shot tower in it, that make the best cupcake I've ever had. Try the red velvet, I drove from Canberra to eat there.

Every time Easter comes around, I can eat a whole packet of chocolate hop cross buns......straight out of the bag while there still soft.....I just can't help myself!

Don't know the shop but the shopping centre is Melbourne Central
