So I'm pretty impressed by this thing straight out of the box. Seems to work well with the Zu's. The build quality and packaging of Line Magnetic is awesome. Easily equal to the PrimaLuna equipment.

Other things - I've had to use a line level converter to get the sub into the system and this will need some tuning. Previously I'd moved the speakers further into the room and the new positioning also seems to work well.

Slowly, slowly getting there. Now just to run everything in, re-setup the sub to suit and then start playing with different tubes. Apparently RCA input and PSVane ACME 845's are the go. The others should be ok I think.

Hey Cam, looking good ??.

How many watts does this put out? The meters indicate they look like they go quite high, but the output tubes shout be good for about 25 watts or so.

Looks the business and sure it would sound stunning........great pick up!!

Thanks. I believe it’s a beastly 28w!

Seems to be enough for the Zu’s at the moment. Though interestingly enough it seems to have more drive than the AM805’s that I had a little while ago which were rated at 50w I think.

So here is the LP-33 phono pre-amp. Very well put together piece of kit that sounds fantastic out of the box. Much much better than the Pro-ject it replaced.

Sourced from the factory, 230V is a non-issue with this unit. A small hum is audible if you put your ear right up to the power supply.

Checking out the various valves inside it uses 3 JJ ECC803s valves and lots of Mundorf caps. Some shots below.

And here is the LM-32 DAC. Again, very well built. The case finish and quality of parts is right up there. I haven't had a real good listen to it yet as I've been glued to the vinyl, however on first short listen I was impressed.

Uses JJ ECC802S valves and I believe these are compatible with 12au7 valves, which I have a heap of, so I'll be rolling some tubes in the future.

Some shots in place and with the lid off below.

That 50s industrial look is very cool, I wonder why it isn't carried over to the DAC as well?

A 70kg carton is not to be sneezed at. Or at least, if you did, it wouldn't move far.....

Seems to be the hammertone (I think that's what it's called?) is reserved for their "retro" series gear and the newer generation units - LM-845 Premium & others - are now in black only.

And yea - that LM-219iA is a heavy beast. I was happy that I have a lift to get it upstairs!

It looks like I’ll have to do the same.  I don’t want to hijack your thread with a million questions, so can you just tell me which one you used?  I’ve just had the Response from Jaycar recommended to me, but wondering if there are other options.

Great setup btw.  I love the semi industrial look.  It brings back memories of old testing gear.  I can even smell it, haha.

No stress on the questions. Hijack away.. I just used a cheapie from Jaycar. It works fine and I haven't noticed a step down in bass quality compared to using a line level from a preamp. I do run it through a miniDSP before the sub to put in a couple of filters/eq to help flatten the response.

Thanks. I hope to be getting a complementing rack in the new year in the hammertone finish as well. Going full industrial.. ?

That’s an IKEA Kallax

@2Brix - yup, as @Hydrology noted, it’s an Ikea cheapie.

They work well and are a bargain, though you need to either bolt to wall or brace them if you’re going to put a lot of weight into the unit.

Line Magnetic integrated amplifiers lined up for testing and inspection before heading off to customers.

LM-150iA, LM-88iA and LM-34iA all fed by LM-32DAC and LP33 Phono stage.

Note the improved "jenga" speaker supports. Much better than the frankly industrial Zu Audio spikes, though not a permanent solution.

I notice you have replaced the long low timber cupboard your gear normally sits on?

What is the new support you are using?

I am scouting for new racks myself.

Cheers

@Aperalim - Hey Chris, it's a bespoke system built for me by @Grizzly. He did a great job, price was more than fair and the finish/attention to detail was very high. Exceeded expectations.

He even had it powder coated the hammertone to suit some of my Line Magnetic gear!

Some more photos below..

Many thanks Cam,

What are the veneered shelves themselves  made of and are they decoupled from the steel frame structure?

Cheers,

Chris

Hey Chris - They are Black Hole Blackbutt shelves, decoupled by rubber supports between the shelves and the angle frame.

Finally got some room treatments in place. Due to the layout of the room, the ceiling was about the only possible place.

It sounds much better, but quite different to what I was used to. I think I need to play with speaker placement again to get the soundstage sounding as big as possible.

This distributorship thing is great fun! It gives me the chance to experience a whole range of gear that I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to hear.

Last night was testing of the LM-845 Premium before it ships off to the customer in Melbourne.

I gotta say - having a dolly to move around this stuff is invaluable. The two box amp weighs in at over 60kg!

That pic brings a smile to the dial.

What are the brand of the ceiling treatment? Looks great.

They are Artnovian. There was a bit of wrangling with getting them up there - make sure you are supplied the correct fixings.

Having treatment on the ceiling has made quite a difference. A lot more channel separation which I would put down to less reflections I guess.

Unfortunately due to the room layout there isn't the opportunity to put any treatment on the sides of the room, however the rack full of vinyl helps I think. Probably needs more vinyl.. ?
