After a while away, I'm getting back into this stuff. Dragged out the LM monos and Elrog/Emission Labs tube combination this morning for some fun. Different to the 833/KT150 combination, though need t

Now one per side. Has evened things out nicely.

MiniDSP on the way for a bit of EQ and that’ll be all the bass I’ll ever need!

I just can't help myself.. had to try out some 845 valve goodness. When someone told me that a single 845 per side wouldn't work, I thought I should try two... :party

They are currently in getting the once over by a local tech. Next will be to source some 845B valves.

They are Antique Sound Labs AQ1009 845 DHT mono blocks. There isn't too much on the net about these things so I'll start a thread in the Amps section of the forum to collect the info I've found so far..

After extended repairs they are back and sounding much better. Photos to come once setup properly.

Some more changes...

Both sub boxes in place, now running through a minidsp (which I’m still tweaking), 845’s glowing and a change of cart. Sounding the best it has so far.

Rearranged the gear, dressed/laid out the cabling to separate power and source cables, added a PS Audio P10 and some entry level power cables. The difference is quite staggering - makes me think that I should've bought the P10 as the first piece of kit, could have saved me turning over a lot of gear! Everything is a lot clearer..

I primarily bought it to step the voltage down to a steady 220V for the power amps, however reducing the line distortion from 5% to 0.1% has made quite a difference. Much better than the Thor unit I tried previously. I'm guessing that a regenerator will actually change the signal in, whilst a variable step down transformer won't make much of a difference.

Everything set and waiting for the new speakers to arrive. They've been on order for over 3 months now so I hope they are worth the wait!

They certainly look the business - even taller with the plinths on. Break in is taking a while due to being busy at work and a full weekend. Travelling next week as well so will be delayed by a couple more weeks. Given they took so long to get here I suppose it won't make too much difference to wait a little longer...

Break in first - but would have to be very small. Only a tiny room and couch..

Hi Cam

Break-in is easy mate, just connect them up to an old AVR or amp and run them 24/7 at low volume with a tuner.  You can put them face to face, throw a blanket over them and leave them running all week.

I do this in the workshop with all my speakers.

Roger that - unfortunately don't have the room to do it. It's ok though, they do run them for 600hrs (reportedly) at the factory first so shouldn't take too long.

A while since the last update.

Have moved house, allowing for a larger room and better view. [emoji106]

I have gone through an amplification journey. Gold Note, Yamaha and now onto Primaluna. The HP integrated is currently in for a service, but luckily I held onto the preamp and little class a DIY creation - both of which are doing a good job.

Also added an SVS SB16 which is running in nicely.

Some pics below.

Thats a good looking setup with a ripper view!!

New house look stunning Cam. If I can make a suggestion : As the Lp12 is sitting on a heavy unit with a lot of other equipment on it a Trampolin base should yield great improvements.

Cheers. Hard to tell at the moment as I’m still playing with valves and waiting for my the HP to come back. Initial thoughts are yes, but will know once the HP is in and settled with some nice front end valves to match the KT150’s and Zu’s.

What are the rectifiers and two tall centre valves in the Dialogue preamp, Cam?

Rectifiers are Phillips and the tall 12AU7's are Brimar long plates. The Brimar's seem to work with smaller power amps, however different valves match different amps I've found.

Hi Cam , I am told the Cetch subchassis is very good however I am talking about a 'device' that replaces the baseboard of the Lp12 with one constructed of aluminium with a foot in each corner that has a suspension system built into it to isolate the turntable from what ever it is sitting on.  Link :  https://www.linn.co.uk/sources/turntables/baseboards

Ahhh - understood. Thanks for the link. Could be worth a look, though I don't seem to get much "feedback" type noise.

One thing I have noticed is background noise at high volume when nothing is playing - I'm guessing that one of the mag-lev collars would possible solve this?
