  • Trying it for the first time tonight, watching the footy (muted) while playing some vinyl. Very nice.... I'll be drinking it again.

I have so fallen off the wagon.

I also had no seatbelt.

The weekend started well. Fueled by interactions with a bad customer in the morning and a three hour drive back home, I stopped for some shopping to get the ingredients for a corn based shepherd's pie. The meat part needs to bee cooked with a pint of Guinness, obviously I went for the sixpack.

And since at three in the afternoon I hadn't had lunch, leftover meatpie and a pint of the black stuff brightened my moods.

And then, start the cooking. Chile (the country) is celebrating 205 years this weekend, and who am I to stop the celebrations? Cook the meat for the pie, prepare the skirt steak and sausages for the barbie for dinner, and a nice potato salad.

For aperitif... oooohhhh! I stopped again at the Whipper Snapper distillery in Perth and bought a bottle of moonshine. Nice stuff. Good for cocktails. Why not prepare a monshine-sour? So here goes...

2 parts of moonshine, one part of lemon juice. I used about one full glass of lemon juice and two of moonshine. Add caster sugar, it depends on your liking and how much liquid you use. I used about 6 - 8 spoons for a total of 700 ml. Mix well. Store in the fridge.

For serving, stir before serving, add ice aplenty to a glass of your preference, and enjoy!

Finished off the evening (after barbie and salad) preparing a custard pie for today, and a glass of italian grappa while listening to Dave Gilmour's new album.

The joys of life....
