Off the grog!!

Featured Replies

I learned years ago that the less you eat the better you feel. I know that intrinsically but I find it bloody hard to live by. Why is that, I don't have the answers. I guess I love food

Same. I have 2 weaknesses. Jube type lollies and savoury treats like twisties or Shapes. If I'm trying to be good the lollie cravings start and when I give in... I know a sugar flat will soon follow, but I do it anyway. Always quite mad at myself afterwards yet hard to stop the craving.

Today I've had porridge for breaky and about to have a banana. Tuna Salad lunch at 1.30 and a nectarine for arvo tea. That should get me to dinner okay.

Porridge is great stuff, low GI and really sticks to your ribs.

Many of the girls in Goal would agree.

Off to Dans to get my six pack tomorrow afternoon.

Now I am being all boring and not drinking much, I really enjoy a beer when I have one, or two.

Not more than six.

I wonder what Sunday nights weigh-in will show me?

Porridge is also really good for gut flora. Regular consumption also promotes a more diverse gut flora ecosystem.

Porridge for breakfast , sushi for lunch and a rice free curry for dinner. To me that is hardly a diet, its just what i eat. I love all types of curries and stir fries i gotta say. Even if i miss breakfast due to running late and go for the old raisin toast snack breakfast ( the only sweet thing i eat with any regularity, ....or does 85 % chocolate count ) i have no problems slipping backwards weight wise and its gotta be 18 months since i did the majority of my weight loss.

Jake, you should try the porridge breakfast. keep it really simple, i just add full cream milk to a plain variety and nuke it. Look at it like a quick fuel up for the morning and as a metabolism kick start. It gets the brain working better as well.

I love my brekky, would feel lousy without it.

If I had to miss a meal, it would be tea.

yeah they say so many good things about porridge...its cheap too.. I got a big bag of it for my wife from the super market or $2 ! :D kinda like horse food but she likes it puts her honey and dates in it...its like a pudding for her :)

I tend to find I'm only eating one large meal each day...while typically for us the main meal is the evening one. really its the wrong time of the day to be eating a big meal.

Jake, you should try the porridge breakfast

But why, if I am not hungry? I often do 50 or so kms on the bike on an empty stomach in the morning, doesn't worry me. Ironically I cook porridge for my daughter most mornings, but the slow cook kind, on the stove.

You gotta do what works for you, but the benefits were outlined in my previous post. Being hungry is only one factor, although it sure helps.

Damn, sorry I meant Gaol...............that should help ;)

Just back from STG. I am finding my sporadic attempts at running are becoming easier and more fluid.

Well, as fluid as a 45 yr old white man can be.

Cool. My rides are getting faster or easier, unfortunately not both just yet...

Wife has already left for work. I slept in but have a big day in the warehouse to make up for it. Then shopping tonight so will be quite active today. I find food court eating is tough but salad bars or Salsa's can be quite healthy. Just check the salad bars can also be terrible if you select the wrong thing

Yet you are targeting the grog as the culprit.

I know! What was I thinking.

Maybe someone should start an "I'm off the carbs!!" thread.

Grog is second to refined white carbs, which are diabolical dynamite for anyone seeking to lose weight ( and not regain it again )

Great stuff Daz! and best of luck to you :thumb:

Fantastic news for you, and us in the Memorable Movies With Drop Dead Gorgeous Actresses thread :P:D

(apologies if missed anything important, as haven't read the whole thread)

Hmmmm, no carbs is going to be a helluvalot harder than no vino. Not sure I'm up for that challenge.

Be brave and bite the bullet. No carbs in a bullet, though the lead might get you.

You can always turn to better carbs to begin with. Porridge for breaky (whole oats) , brown rice, wholemeal wraps or mountain bread in place of normal breads.

That's what we have done, with an emphasis on really cutting back on carbs at dinner. We had pasta the other night, first time in weeks.

Bloody 4-packs. Had one fri night and one sat night, blew the Kj's out to the tune of 3500 kj's each day. None tonight, ready for tomorrow mornings early walk.

Makes you wonder how the body was managing the Kj's when I was drinking a carton each weekend.

Sunday night weigh-in soon.
