A friend took the pic in our urban orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre. I haven't a clue what it is. Anyone?

 

Shroud over the top of the fruit looks like eggplant/aubergine-ish.

How big was it? It looks like a species of white egg plant.

I concur it looks like the white eggplant variety

My inlaws grow eggplants and looks the same as your photo

Maybe just a Yellow Eggplant?

It is a green demon hand grabbing a passionfruit.

Looks like the claw of the Creature from the Dark Lagoon when he is doing his (horticultural) second job.

The eggplant was a good clue. Perhaps it is this one?

If the fruit is only a couple of centimetres it could also be a chilli. The tiny tip on the LHS, plus that it is not hanging down, makes it look more like a chilli than an aubergine, but size will be the ultimate determinator. Aubergines, potatoes, tomatoes, capsicums and chilli are all in the same family, the Solanums.
