Hot Chocolate Machine

Featured Replies

I like hot chocolate, particularly the thick Italian variety. Today finally crumbled and ordered the Bialetti Hot Chocolate Machine from the U.K. It is now discontinued, so if I waited much longer it would no longer be available (particularly in 240V version).

The Bialetti has a 1 litre capacity and is the perfect size for us. When this machine carks it (as it will one day) I might have to get a 3 litre commercial unit if there is no "new" Bialetti. Life was not meant to be easy for a hot chocolate lover.

We use the Cioconat drinking chocolate powder, and I hate burning the milk and then having to clean out the pot after having spoilt a brew. Yep, life was not meant to be easy for a hot chocolate drinker.

a hot chocolate machine ? :D there must be a gadget for everything these days hehe

we just steam some milk using the wand on the silvia, and throw a few squares of lindt into the milk as its swirling around. best chocolate ever !

because its steam ...theres no burning of milk either :)

and you just throw in the appropriate lindt squares ...depending on what kind of hot chocalate you want :)

Just get some pods for the nespresso

I had no idea these existed - looks like a strong cup!

I do the same Al, although usually is Milo or similar. Really smooth consistency, in fact I find it easier to get microfoam when there's Milo in there for some reason!

Where is the fun of that compared to brewing, cleaning, arguing about how thick it is.....and then deciding what you really wanted was a cup of tea, anyway?

We use the Nespresso pro machines (we have 3 of them). No silly chocky pod goes near them. Only the peerless grand cru from the Nespresso house.

You guys should really try hot chocolate, Italian style, just to see if there is something in life you knew was missing....................but just couldn't put your finger on.

I would love to, but milk is not my friend

Hot chocolate? Pah.

Interesting recipe, but what the hell is half & half. Bloody stupid American terms. Could be half dulux natural white, half piss for all I know. Still doesn't look as thick as the hot chocolates in Barcelona - hold the whipped cream though.

That is why I use the Cioconat powder. Thick as!

Half cream, half milk. About 12% butter fat.

Well that's a relief. Imagine it's a better conduit for chocolate flavour than paint & piss.

.....and no doubt very slimming.
