Whilst you guys are having fun with Trio and sisters, I am studying hard, some of the websites and links that you guys posted. Never had I read so many pages since I left Uni many years ago.

Now I know even less and I know I want more...

And, what is this little toy? :o

And, what is this little toy? :o

Smithy,

To Mrs Smith it is her dear husbands way of saving money. To you, Smithy, it is your ticket to fresh roasted coffee from any part of the world, any time you like (and less than half the price of the roasted stuff). And easier to use than the average microwave oven:D

Interested? Read this.

Yes, yes, more please, 2sheds!

Do you think they do a bigger one? A size that might fit me in, I think my CEO is going to roast me first! :o

Oh, you got one?

And, what is this little toy? :o

it's a pretty good home roaster. You can start that part of your hobby with a popcorn machine

Oh, you got one?

I do....:o Maybe I can give you a demo one day. But then Mrs Smith will blame me....:o

I have been doing a lot of reading lately, especially at coffeegeek's.

Anyone tried this or is this available here? Got some good review at coffeegeek.

You missed my attempt to divert it further onto the subject of whisky!!

Actually it was that nasty Shedman who diverted it onto tea a few days ago. I was just following up :o. Its important to allocate the blame accurately (trust me, I know these things). Its Shedman, his fault his fault!!

I was quite enjoying the read about coffee (until diverted by Shedman's scandalous off topic ramblings), however I will now contemplate your suggestion on the evolutionary step from coffee to tea. You could be right. Perhaps tea will see us adapting better to the world. You may be very prescient Jon!

I which case, would one of you like to sell me your no longer required La Pavonis or other now obsolete machine? I am happy to collect valves and coffee machines :D.

Until then, hmmm hmmm...that Pablo tastes good.

Que..? :D

Oh, and on the subject of coffee and tea......how are your roses going...? :o

Shed Shed you are leading us ALL astray!

grinderportrait2.jpg

Versalab - the audiophiles grinder. Made by the designer of Versa Dynamica. Combined flat and conical set, continuous adjustment, doserless.

Kevin

I'm intrigued now - I've emailed them for more info (can feel another grinder coming on...)

Shed Shed you are leading us ALL astray!

No thanks necessary, Waricle :D

GREAT!

During the week is OK with me. My kids are on holiday. Let me know when and I will be there! PM your details please. :D

I am interested too but when I did some google search and found some bitter exchange of words between people and users with bad experience after placing orders.

it sounds like each machine is built to order, so there isn't a warehouse full of grinders waiting for shipment, hence the delay. I'll clarify this with them and let you know if you want.

Ah, yes, I am glad you asked me about roses. I will happily spend some time responding to this in the future, however in the meantime, and to remain ON TOPIC, let me explain how a rose bud tea infusion (say, 2 rose buds added to the brew) makes a wonderful addition to the standard Oolong Ginseng blend.

For those who are interested, I would be happy to pass on details on the best place in Hong Kong to get rose tea. Please let me know if you are interested. It is very conveniently located near the Intercontinental down a little alley.

So, Sheddie, back out from under...?

Michael,

it will be good, love to hear more from your experience.

Phew. Yes, thanks Mustud. :D If only that blasted woman would eat leg ham and cheese toasted sandwiches like the rest of us. I keep telling her a slice of ham is sufficient. She says her method requires no slicing...;)

Morning guys,

Now I am ready for a grinder or even a piece to roast my own beans, but the cups I have are just not up to it, what containers do you guys use for those nice crema? Metal, glass or china?

A3596_CAT~Espresso-Cup-Posters.jpg

Bone china, pre-warmed! Of course when I'm in a hurry, whatever is clean!

I prefer a ceramic cup for no other reason than I like the feel when I put it to my mouth. And I prefer a fine bone china for the same reason. I don't like metal as I often find I get a tingle for the metal - a little disturbing. :o

I have not noticed any better crema holding qualities in either material, but that probably has more to do with the fact that I don't let it sit around for more than a few seconds ;)

Perhaps the white porcelain does show off the crema a little better.

Whilst it is certainly not traditional, when I drink an espresso or flat white or Americano at home, I enjoy it in a fine bone china (Royal Doulton from memory) tea cup. Again, I do it just because I like the overall feel of the cup.

Now, Jack, I am loathe to introduce you to any more expensive habits....but what the heck.....:D

A friend of mine used to collect Illy espresso cups . I think he had about 300 varieties....and some are very beautiful....

illycupbox.jpg290570494_f8f8f2b623.jpgillyespressocups.jpgalessi_pistoletto_fundation.jpg

But if Mrs JCR reads this post after you buy 2000 of these cups, my name is Mustud...:D

cheers

2sheds

I agree, it must be china. I use Illy demi-tasse.
