The reason we go naked is to pin-point where the channeling is. The ultimate aim is to do everything right (grind-eveness, RDT, dosing, WDT, distributing) so we can aim for a closer to the perfect extraction (extraction in the centre of the basket)

I've had the Versalab since 2006 though and I'm yet to find anything better, apart from the M4, and now I've upgraded to that.

Have you been able to compare it to the likes of the monolith max, lagom P100, weber EG1 or the levercraft ultra.

I would be very keen to hear your thoughts. I have both the EG 1, P100 and the key on its way and so far. So far the P100 and EG 1 are so close its hard to tell them apart. I have now installed the low fines burrs into the EG1 to see how they go with pour overs, but id also like to try them with espresso (light roasts)

No, I haven't, but I'd be happy to bring my M4 down to Melbourne one day for a comparison. The M4 has some of Frank Durra's unimodal TiN coated DRM burrs in it, I imagine that any difference would come down to the burrs and the M4's fluffy 'volcano' distribution

Id say you are right mate. Once we get to these levels burrs would play the biggest role. From what i have noticed between the P100 and EG 1 both are brilliant but have some very slight differences. Im still seasoning both so looking forward to more testing.

I was hopeful you may have had a chance to try some of these other grinders, as getting your hands on them is getting harder and harder.

Id happily take up that offer when you are next in melbourne, getting caffeinated and just having a good old chat sounds like a great way to pass a day

I got this hunk of steel for distribution. It's a tool that I use, that has helped me with the consistency of my shots..

I'd rather spend that sort of money on cables! It's pretty though.

These are nice.  70ml espresso twisted glass. I also have the 180ml cappuccino twisted. Grab some from Loveramics.
