Yamaha NS-1000m studio monitors

Featured Replies

I had a relatively small listening room, 3.5x6m with relatively low ceiling, and much as I loved the sound, I saw a second pair of used NS-1000m’s for sale at a good price, so I added them to the system.

Previously in Zimbabwe I was using two pairs of stacked Quad Electrostatics with a single subwoofer to add to the bottom end, and loved the result, using Quad 33 coupled to Quad 404 for amplification. Sadly, I had to sell this system in order to move to Australia in 2004.

I was so impressed with the quality of sound from the Yamaha NS-1000’s, that I now have 7 pairs, with one pair per side that are driven by one stereo amp for general listening, but when listening to live concert shows from DVD, I listen to all 7 pairs playing together using an Infinity active electronic crossover to control the subwoofers and the other 6 pairs of 1000m’s

We have now moved to a new home on 24 acres with a shed space of 9x15m, which is generous, and just wondering if there might be a better arrangement of speaker placement. I don’t need to worry about neighbours, the nearest home is well over a Km away.

For context, I will try and include a photo of the previous setup.

Wear the fox hat.

Hilarious! I thought I was bad when I had 3 pairs. Enjoy.

Excellent choice, congratulations!

Be still, my beating heart!
