Not a fan either.

I used to like to browse the classifieds. Simply scroll down till something catches ones attention.

I have bought a couple of items like that, not being after anything in particular.

Now I would have to jump form one heading to another? Guess I won't be browsing anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind change but not when it makes things more complex.

As mentioned numerous times in this thread you can browse a similar way be selecting the View All Ads feature

Two clicks ....

  1. Classifieds
  2. View All Ads

Or one direct click: https://www.stereonet.com/forums/classifieds/?do=viewAll

Let me say this one more time for those that have not been following along since late last year. This change was forced and necessary, else there would have been no classifieds going forward. It's well documented elsewhere why. I won't repeat it all again.

I do not want to view "ALL". 95% of the time I used to browse the HiFi gear page. 5% of the time the Accessories and never the other categories!

But that is just me. If I am after something specific I go through the search function.

I can’t see how to browse all ads by region, or quickly filter out what I don’t want so it can be saved as a querystring. Was part-way browsing amps before realising I was getting all regions and no filter options (at lease that I could see). Viewing all ads was showing all regions and I couldn’t exclude the areas I’m not interested in.

Not sure if you read the rest of the thread, but the majority of the discussion has been around what will come, and how the functionality will improve. This was Stage 1 of many stages.

I totally agree, filtering is needed, along with many other things already agreed in this thread. We're a tiny team, with limited resources, making changes every day. A lot has been improved in the first 48 hours and more will come.

You do what you have to do, no problem with that.

It just does not do it for me........... there might be a time in the future when I am retired and have more time to browse.

Well there you go, so a bit of feedback will not be lost then.....

Filtering has started to be added under View All Ads. More will come.

I asked this yesterday. You can't just browse hifi gear, but you can browse all the amps simply by scrolling down after you've clicked on the major heading (you don't have to click on each sub-heading). And I figure, once it's been bedded in, that we'll be able to tailor our own view to pick up just what we want (assuming people have added things into the correct category).

For the moment, I have to flip between the old ads (until they expire/get sold) and the new ones (currently using View All until I work out something better).

I'm a browser, like you, and liked most of the old system. But it sounds like the management of the software was becoming a real headache. And I would think we'd all be glad if the new system is safer and easier to update.

I am trying to source an Electrical Disclaimer which was inadvertently omitted by me. Something to keep in mind when listing a DIY product.

This has been resolved with the Electrical Disclaimer now included on all ads by default.

I know you have mentioned many times that the overall look and styling is being worked on, is there scope here to increase the number of adds on page 1 to counter this?

That has been done.

I probably won't be using this when O/S, as the data charges from a lot of the providers are frightening

A workaround for that is to use an RSS provider such as Feedly which allows you to switch view very easily from tiles to text only, etc.

E.g.

In short, even overseas you can set up a text-based feed for your SNA classifieds addiction. I know I will ;)

How do we seperate by Region now?

I also much prefer the old format where you could see various components under the catagories, now we need to chop and change between catagories for the same result.. very time consuming and the likelyhood of missing out on an impulse buy presents!

AFAIK that's in development

Could you elaborate with an example, please? I'm trying to replicate your old workflow to see how it might be set up in the beta view.

Edited by Steff

We use to see amps, preamps, speakers, cartridges, turntables under one roof, now we need to chop and change between 5 catagories for the same result... I think the system has gone backwards, improvements are suppose to make life easier, not harder and more time consuming. This new design means way more pressure on the systems bandwidth too. 5 page loads whereas previously it required 1 page load

Edited by Allan

Ok that's because the beta default view is what I would call the  "power display" showcasing the sorting prowess.

If you flip to https://www.stereonet.com/forums/classifieds/?do=viewAll

you will get the "under one roof" view - but let me know if I misunderstand what you're looking for.

Had a look, how do I know exactly what is and isnt being listed? Now weve to sift through a list of every type of component, most of which I and I asume majority of others couldnt care less for

Edited by Allan

I don't understand your question. If you can see it, it's listed?

Help us understand the question please.

  • View All filters (region etc) - preliminary done but still in progress

There are a lot of questions being asked in this thread - where it has already been discussed or answered previously. It would be really helpful for those not understanding things or how it works to read the thread first please. You might find you have overlooked something that is already in place, or has been acknowledged as being worked on.

I just want to remind everyone that from my point of view, we want this to be the best it can be, and to ideally suit the majority of users. Nothing is set in stone. It's evolving rapidly, and will continue to do so. Feedback is important, and not a single piece has been ignored. What may work for you may not work for the majority, but we're trying to implement ways in which it can work for most. It is frustrating answering many questions which have been well covered already though.

That’s your user experience though.

From another perspective if I’m only looking for a preamplifier now I don’t have to scour through all the power amplifiers, DACS, streamers and everything else.
Or scroll through hundreds of CD ads when I only want to buy vinyl.
