Need a new BBQ. What to buy?

Buy a BBQ's Galore Turbo. I have two five burner BBQ's Galore Turbos that I have had for years. They last, cook well and you can continue to buy parts for them indefinitely.

Not cheap but good.

Yes.

This seems a good suggestion as well.

I was just checking out their website and the new model Turbo BBQs have a nifty looking new burner system. If it's as good as claimed it might be a game changer.

The burners are called RQT which signifies "radiant quartz technology" and apparently the domes over the burners are made of quartz and not glass so they don't crack and also act as a flame tamer.

LP beat me to it. But I've done a lot of research on this but in the end could not afford the cost of the Tucker BBQs. They are the best out there.

But if you have $2K to spend - then you will be able to get one for that price esp during one of their sales which is every 6 months.

Or if LP can hook you up - even better.

The Tucker BBQs use 304 Stainless Steel and will last 20 years easily. The rest use low grade Stainless Steel that will rust if left in the rain.

I don't do that much BBQing to justify the min $1.8K price for the model I wanted so settled for a Weber Q 220 at less than half the price instead. But If I had $2K to spend - I'd buy a Tucker.

yep we dont do much bbq'ing either, we bought a $400 one from barbeque galore, about 10 years back still seems to be in good nick, its along similar lines to the webber Q and we'll probably have to find some excuse to get rid of it eventually, because it looks like the kind of thing go on forever ! :D

Pretty sure I can get 10% off, at least.

I got a European Cooker from Bunnings.

Only need something small these days.

Charcoal is still the best if you can stand the mucking around with it.

The RQT burners might be good or they might be a gimmick, I don't know. Their Turbo model BBQ's are very good however.

Phantom,

Mrs Boss & I bought a Weber Genesis after I redid my front patio about 8-9 years ago and its a little ripper.

It looks very similar in shape and features to the one previously shown by Mrdave but with less silver. It has 4 burners and a wok burner on the side with a drop down and fixed shelf which should be sturdy enough for most applications. I would imagine the newer models might all come with rotisseries.

This only cost us $1250 at the time so with inflation / exchange rate fluctuations if you can snag one of the newer models for less than 2K, you will appreciate the quality.

I have been eyeing off the turbo too. For me they seem the best around option.

Charcoal is still the best if you can stand the mucking around with it.

+1

I've got a Beefeater, never noticed the smoke problem mentioned above. My FIL has given me a good tip, he BBQs everything in a pan on the BBQ, so food never needs cleaning off the BBQ plate/grill as it never cooks directly onto there. The food still tastes like BBQ food, but without all the mess.

No.............it won't taste the same.

Pan never tastes like flame grill.

+1 for Beefeater, we had one that is now 12 years old that I gave to the in-laws, they use it twice a week and its still in awesome condition.

I do want one of these though:

Does too

Does too

Only if you sprinkle ground up charcoal on it!

Smoke issue is with the Everdure, the Beefeater is fantastic.

Charcoal does taste the best

If you go down the path of charcoal I suggest that you get a charcoal / heat bead chimney starter to get your coals red hot quickly or you will be nursing them over an hour before you can cook

Because the BBQ is right outside the back door and never needs refilling, we use the BBQ a hell of alot. Probably 5 nights out of 7. Plus breakfasts on the weekend.

Without photos, it never happened! ;)

Like FR says..........the charcoal chimney is an essential.

Top invention.

Just noticed your (substantial) budget, so this argument is all but moot.

But in my opinion, an original weber charcoal kettle wins for all out taste, regardless of price.

Yes it's slow and cumbersome but I wouldn't use anything else.  Had mine for 15 years and love it to death.  It's never failed me, and hopefully never will.

I think lano is in love..................

Maybe with steak yes?

Not used a charcoal chimney, but used this for the first time today.

$40 from Bunnings. Like a hairdryer on steroids. Had my charcoal pile for my Weber kettle fired up in 90 seconds. Bloody brilliant!
