Do you do anything with the Marantz AV10 (I think you have one of those, apologies if I am mistaken. I'm referring to your processor)? Do you just plug that straight into the mains?

Benje

Does this have surge protection?

hi Benje, do have the marantz pair in av10 processor and amp10 multi channel power amp, they are located over on the AV side of things... will see below, no power anything on these just into wall with the power amp and processor into a power strip ... physically 7-8m remote from my 2ch sources and integrated..

Some listening last night. Purely marantz sacd 10 with regenerated power in nuvista 800.2 driving my focal sopra 3s

I ended up doing a nitin sawhney tour across some of his 5 cds I have :D

It’s a great mix of vocals, instrumentations. Very atmospheric and great use of bass.

Overall am loving the details clarity and very 3D Sound stage. These always a feature of above albums. But far more prominent since addition of the regenerator …not seeing any difference in bass end …

Also checked out another favourite of mine in Spandau ballet true, the curious thing is I noted for first time in decades Tony hadleys voice in True is a touch recessed vs instrumentations …not a negative just way is,

Some checking around and indeed a production choice with the lovely instrumentations of this song… anyways there you go a discovery in decades of listening to something :D like it as it is :)

Will do more listing over the break and do some more comparisons …ps do wonder now what cables will bring …

Don't go down that rabbit hole, al !

It's a one way ticket to the poor house. 🫤

Shunyata power cables are very good btw! 🙂

too true ! i'll be sure to continue the baby steps approach :D

definitely can get quite expensive !!

I might reach out in the new year some time to Mick at avgallery or krispy as both seem to do both furutech and shunyata.

but in mean time enjoy what i have :) its sounding great ! :)

Have you noticed any changes to the dynamics of what you’re listening to?

not sure id say dynamics :)

its more clarity, details, sounds stage... that was with the marantz sacd 10 as source.

today been having the eversolo via regenerated power... and i must say its sounding pretty good... ! i seem to have this running impression of the eversolo where keep thinking .. surely can do better than this thing.. but hey its actually sounding pretty good :D this is with eversolo just as transport feeding via digital to marantz sacd 10 that using as a dac..

Let me explore a bit more in my listening across sources about this question on dynamics :) might have to come back to you on this one.

I haven’t looked at the specs between the two, but I would have expected the dac in the Eversolo to be better than that of the Marantz??? You’ll know better than me…

Yeah the reason I ask about dynamics is the I’ve heard power regenerators can suppress and stifle dynamics. As with everything on the net, determining fact between fiction can be difficult, so as I trust your opinion I’m keen to know if you experience any changes.

Ah no the marantz slaughters the Eversolo …I was running the Eversolo on own and then plugged it into the marantz to use its dac and it was oh wow :D the Eversolo sound like lite version by comparison …

Not noticed that. Will keep a ear out for that across comparisons :)

some more comparisons this morning @Kaynin as you had my curiosity. ok i am seeing some sense in what saying in that there is definitely a smoothness to sound with the regenerator... and on other hand a bit more bite or edge for non regenerated - this can be seen as dynamics ? . the regenerated does have good sound stage and clarity too though.. so possibly a case of swings and round abouts ? down to preference perhaps .. but something in this .. and taken a bit of back forth to understand :D

i'll leave in the inconclusive category for me for now .. will require more exploration across more music perhaps, to get a full handle on ...

Yeah interesting. I've had this discussion with another person who had also heard opinions that regenerators compress dynamics, but when they tried it out for themselves they hadn't noticed anything like that at all. Your system is certainly revealing enough to show what the regenerator is doing, and it's sounding positive. :)

bit more re arranging of deck chairs here :D

when i got the musical fidelity 800.2 nuvista integrated (swapping it for my 2ch pre-pwr).. I had to locate the nuvista to top shelf, it couldn't go in the glass doored cabinet where the pre was.. the nuvista would cook inside and wouldn't fit anyways :D

so meant the amp now tad further from my oppo 205 hires and multichannel player on far right of my cabinet ... so couldn't hook that up with XLRs as do normally ..was waiting for a while for some longer XLRs to pop up and thinking more cost 🤢 but then realisation and face palm.. well cant you move the oppo closer to the integrated :D uh yeah .. so did that swapping it the ps audio p12 regenerator ...

so could switch it on and listen to it now.. Hello Oppo :D old friend and not just with hdmi ! welcome back !

IMG_1811.jpeg

while i was at it ... unplugging everything from the ps audio.. i had a thought .. while i havent run the nuvista integrated off its regenerated power.. why dont i give it a go... :D

so yeah nuvista now powers off the ps audio regenerator... and guess what even cranked up seriously the nuvista is only drawing some 350w ..well within the 1kw of the ps audio....

IMG_1810.jpeg

the sopra 3 are pretty efficient i guess at some nearly 92db sensitivity ... tried with some power sucking tracks at insane levels (while have house to myself) :D and yeah not seeing more that around 300w power use

and gosh i am liking the benefit on the nuvista too with the regenrated power .. its clean expansive .. just seem to be able to crank it and crank it :D powerful and dynamic !

I have been wondering what the ps audio might bring for benefit for the nuvista and if i could even use it with that.. felt a bit mean it had to miss out on its goodness ... well am pleased !

one thing did worry after .. but what when i use the system for AV ? lights out with the projector ? that ps audio display all lit up ? oh the remote for that has a dim button ... hit that and the screen goes out ... hooray ! ... can touch the screen to check and then it goes out again :) win win ... another couple of steps forward ... just re arranging ! :D

I’d agree with you on the Eversolo DAC, I much prefer my outboard dac over that in the Eversolo8.

With regards to regen, I’ve also wondered if the new found smoothness is some slight dynamics being removed ?

As you say swings and roundabouts 🤷‍♂️

Bit of a room update.... our old couches were getting a bit tired, torn and stained and time to go... replaced with a bit of a modular setup that we can change out covers !

IMG_1945.jpeg

IMG_1946.jpeg

sticking with cloth as we prefer over leather.. but with a setup with removal covers if need to ever change out again...

most importantly the cats still feel at home :D

IMG_1952.jpeg

audio wise things still sounding great :) i did wonder if changing out couches would change things :D

Is it King? Looks it.

I’m with you about fabric over leather though, it’s so much more comfortable. Leather seats for my car, but fabric for my lounges!

hi kaynin, king was one of top contenders as really make stuff to last. Though we got about 10 years out of our last freedom couches we were a bit jaded with them. Looking at king and then found this crowd.

https://wattleliving.com

from a designer that had worked for freedom and king and thought could do things differently ... a bit of a risk ! but so far we are pretty pleased and turning out all as expected to be :)

yep used ot have leather long time back.. moved on now :D no going back. has draw backs but prefer the comfort :)

I just looked at their website, a good local choice. Clearly made to last as well.

Did you move all the two channel stuff I thought it used to be along that wall
