Anyone else using E-cigs?

Featured Replies

LOL no digital e nicotine there, just pure hand rolled tobaccy.

I will be smoking one or two top quality cigars with my cousin this Easter when we have some family coming to stay with us at Inverloch.

These are rogue pre labelling legislation beauties. That will be it for me for at least 12 months, but I am looking forward to the evenings.

I was lucky to give up regular smoking 35 years ago. Hong Kong and China had me cadge a cig every now and then from the chimneys there. When I realised I was using it as a business lubricant I really had to call a halt to it. The next contract was not worth avoidable cancer.

Good call. I trust the cigars will be worth the risk ;)

Bet there's a few addicts lurking here . . .

My one tip for giving up, cold turkey: substitute another activity. You're tempted to give your lungs a jolt? Do some breathing exercises instead. Instead of the vacuum of need, there's an activity that actually makes you feel better.

Worked for me. Lemme see, how many previous attempts before I tried the exercise approach? Nah, there's a limit to sharing.

Congrats Mario. If the urges get too strong you could always try the e-cigs again rather than going back to cigs.

Just got a delivery today from 2 places at the same time, always exciting getting this stuff!

1 from China and the other local. Stocked up now for a little while again.

Having never been a smoker, I don't understand the cravings, but everyone I've known who has given it up successfully has done it cold turkey

(er, appears I already said that - should have looked before I posted)

Cool stuff Rocky. Just got some Ego twists and Clearomisers from Vapeking. Working well.

Emsbee , For me it isn't a case of giving up smoking but giving up using 'analogue' cigarettes. With the E-cigs there is no smell , no ash and no health issues .Smoking becomes vaping.

It will be 4 weeks this Thursday since I had my last cigarette  and I fell better already , sense of smell and taste much improved and much more energy.

Well done Ozcall. 4 weeks gets you over the normal cigerettes, so hopefully its all vaping from now on. Clearomisers are the best.

I can jog again without breaking down anymore, don't have to clear my throat in the mornings. Car smells good again. No buts all around the house. Its all win win.

V2 cigs for me😄

Was a 3 pack a week smoker, going Up to pack a day In periods of high stress.

Substituted in March last year.

Aim was always to substitute if possible only, not quit. Repeat, I was NOT trying to quit, but to substitute with the intention that since I was pretty comfortable with my habit, perhaps a healthier substitute that only had pure nicotine with none of the other hundreds of dangerous ingredients should be infinitely healthier.

In the first 2 months, I probably substituted 80% - 90%, and by mid May / June was totally on e-cigs. Bit of a surprise there and I was truly enjoying it as a full substitute but there's more...

Without really/consciously trying (in fact the opposite if anything!), I found that I needed it less and less.

By nov/dec, I found that I was only doing maybe 3 sessions per day (2-3 puffs each session which was probably about a quarter of a cigarette each!) Yes - unlike cigarettes, you don't need to smoke a standard length! And when I forgot to bring it with me to work, I wasn't too fussed other than a mild irritation for being forgetful.

Today, I just realized that I haven't puffed all week, and I think all of last week. The amazing thing is, I'm not actively avoiding it...

Compared to the cold turkey crowd with withdrawals and iffy success rates (been there and failed several times with the longest being about 2 months or so), you really have no idea if you think it's the best way. Vaping as a means of quitting is simply no comparison. Recently caught up with friend (long time ex-smoker who's now moved back to Dubai) who introduced me said that he had 4 other friends who all started on e-cigs just before me, and 3 have quit. So not quite 100% success rate, but at 80% only... Bet you that's better than cold turkey.

Bizarre and totally farked that the Govt is not actively promoting this. Shows how absolutely out of touch with reality this Govt is, staffed and led by imbeciles.

Yep everything's the fault of the government - they should just keep legislating all our worries away

Yep everything's the fault of the government - they should just keep legislating all our worries away
You are mistaken on my meaning.

The Govt, instead of remaining neutral or supporting e-cigs have actually legislated AGAINST it. This under the view that it is similar to actual smoking thus e-cigs promote real cigs. A line of thinking so illogical that imho only an imbecile could arrive at. It also effectively plays into the hands of big tobacco who see e-cigs as what they truly are, a huge threat!

For me, the absolutely amazing thing is not that it works, but how effective it is.

I liked it so much, that back around June, I made a bulk order (not really intending to quit) from the US of the flavours I liked. Just had a look and I still have the equivalent of about 55 packs of cigarettes left.

55 packs of cigarettes equivalent. And wondering wtf to do with it. At the rate I'm going it'll last me another 5 years unless I quit...

Fair enough. If E-cigs gets you off the tobacco and there are no health issues, then all well and good.

I used to love smoking roll your own tobacco. It was the best way to enjoy the flavours and the blends. But chucked 'em in going cold turkey.

A couple of points I found interesting

1/ The part of the brain that craves nicotine is the same part that says 'I'm thirsty'. So...to mitigate the craving for a ciggie meant carrying round bottled water. Want a smoke? have a swig instead.

2/ about a month after quitting you get angry....really...really angry. For a day or so then it passes. Then another month later same thing only not so bad. And again a month after that

3/ You sleep better and food tastes and smells....different

4/ You WILL gain weight.

  • 1 month later...

Seriously going to give these a try soon I think. Thanks for the info.

Probably a good think the Govt. isn't on the bandwagon with this. I assume the reason they are significantly cheaper is the lack of tax on ecigs. I assume they would be essentially Aus tax free??

I gave up 4 months before I turned forty, as that was my deadline. I set the forty goal at the age of 28. To achieve this feat I used all sorts of tricks & things to achieve it. gave up five times total, used drops patches etc. I've gotta say the patches were the best as they had a warning on them not to apply the patch before retiring at night as very vivid dreams could leave you tired etc. So from then on I applied all patches 10 minutes before I went to bed & before & after I have never done so much rooting for real or in any other state as when under the influence of those patches, it was the same for the missus too, we loved them & couldn't wait to go to bed. Put a bit of sauce in the bedroom too as we swapped stories,HA!  By the time I quit I was smoking over 2 packets of 50gm tobacco a week & at least a packet of tailor mades every time I drank at the pub so that was 2 or more times a week. I take my hat off to anyone that has a go to quit & never criticise, in fact I normally tell them it may not happen this time but hey, it took me five goes.  Seriously though, those patches, all you have to do is look at a woman in your dream & they say yes!!!! :bump:

Well it's 8 weeks down the road for me and haven't had a single cigarette.

Have been slowly reducing the strength of the Nicotine and I guess am now on the equivalent of a 1mg cig.

The great thing about vaping is you have so many flavours to choose from.

I am currently vaping Cuban cigar flavour and it goes very well with the sparkling white I am drinking.

Well done Oz! I myself started vaping on 1 January this year. Didn't expect it to stop me smoking (15 per day avg) but haven't had a real cigarette since that day. I almost gag now if a smoker gets in the lift with me and can't fathom that that's how I used to smell!

Like you, I actually prefer the vaping experience - where I work, about 60 other smokers have switched to vaping. I could not even imagine having a real cig. I no longer use the tobacco flavours at all - current favourite is a blend of coconut and cherry - like smoking a Cherry Ripe!

I have no immediate desire to stop vaping but find that I'll sometimes go a whole day without using the E-cig so I expect it will be easier to quit vaping if I decide to do this.

The govt is expected to start regulating and taxing e-cigs and the vaping liquids - they're losing a fortune (and getting worse every day) in revenue from smoking and there is tremendous pressure from the tobacco companies as they see their own revenues plummeting - for them it was always more about the money and less about the health!

I buy my nic liquid from Health Cabin :

http://www.healthcabin.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1075_1117&products_id=7942.

I get the 36mg 115ml bottle and then get a bottle of poly glycerol liquid to dilute to taste

http://www.healthcabin.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1057_1064&products_id=7659

You should get a couple of flavours with your kit from Vapeking but their tabacco flavour trial kit is well worth the money.

You should grab a couple of measuring syringes and some of there plastic bottles to mix up your fluid in.

36mg nic fluid may seem high but it is not the same as nic rating in real cigs.

I dilute my nic fluid with 1:1 glycerol to give 18mg and then add flavour to taste. They say that is like a 5mg cig.

Any more question feel free to fire away.

I bought the same kit as you : excellent
