Man,

who has seen the Coles ad with Status Quo playing big red pointing Coles hand guitars singing ova and ova " prices are down ".

An entire song was just played during masterchef.

Oh my god, talk about sell out.

Trouble is in principle I want to despise it, however for some reason.

I think I like it!

Now they can say " We've finally made it ".

Well, Quo sold out when they finally got sick of three gold chords and delved into reels and jigs. But as for the ad' it is very clever marketing on Coles' behalf - covering all the bases and even having a dig at the knockers of the original "down down" ad's. For Quo, though, it is a money making gig, possibly even a dig aimed at former band member(s) who moved to Oz rather than head down the reels and jigs road. Possibly.

Whatever you want, whatever you like

Whatever you say, you pay your money

You take your choice, whatever you need

Whatever you use, whatever you win, whatever you lose

I actually sort of liked that song when Status Quo released it in the 70s. Don't think I could stand playing it these days. I do still play 'Pictures of Matchstick Men' from time to time though. Much better.

I've seen the video. Wasn't sure that it was actually Status Quo for real, at first. Don't mind the video, but can't stand the big red hands.

I don't have a problem with them 'selling out' .

Music selling is the business most artists are in anyway.

Same as hearing an old great track in a movie; enjoy it !

I've been a lifelong Quo fan ever since Piledriver in my first year at grammar school in 1973. I've never minded the covers and endless hits compilations as those were nearly always contractual obligations and now and then they can still turn out a very good album. Their latest, Quid Pro Quo from last year is an excellent album.

I had not heard the ad, however, I found the song;

Enjoyable, but very, very boring lyrics.

Shame that shopping at Coles is so soul-destroying.

Considering Rick, Francis and Andy are at least 110 years old per man and Rick and Francis have sniffed a b-double weight of coke over the years they don't half look good. :)

I really don't know what to make of all of this. It has to be one of most bizarre ads of all time (particularly if view out of context)

I prefer to view it out of context.

Sigh, I suppose it was an ad that had to be made.
