the_king Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Anyone here help to calibration a HT for a fee?
the_king Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 Still doing my homework and checking the FAQ before asking again.
the_king Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 HT Setup revision 2 i have been busy check the price and listening the speaker(but i give up, as those around the price range sounded the same[maybe i upgrade again when my ear is better trained]) The Ht will be placed in a room( new flat 4 room flat, one of the bedroom) First, AV receiver: Marantz SR5007 (about $900 to $950) The cheapest receiver with Audyssey MultEQ XT and pre-out Speaker: Front: Wharfedale Diamond 122 Center: Wharfedale Diamond 102C Surround: Carlson audio Choose this over Wharfedale Diamond 121 and Wharfedale Diamond 101C as the price different is only $150 more. not sure Will this be just right for the bedroom. So was quoted about $690 by city for the front and center. i also ask about monitor audio as i also shortlisted this model but quoted BX2, BX Center for about $1100. Power Amp: Emotiva XPA-3 Was looking at UPA5 Also. Is it a better idea to power all the speaker by upa5 and bypass the receiver power amp? also i have read the manual it did not say in the built in power amp can be turn off. or is it better to get a xpa3 for LRC and surround for recevier? Lastly: Sub svs SB12-NSD Tried looking for other sub with similar price. but could not found it. Any help? Or getting Wharfedale Diamond 121 and Wharfedale Diamond 101C save about $150 and getting a UPA5 instead of xpa 3 or maybe getting sb1000 save about $200 is a much better option? cost i will be getting rancilio sliva version 3 also that my 2 love Thanks
kenshin07 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Can try monitor audio rs6. Someone is selling, http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=137021.0
the_king Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 thanks but not really into 2nd hand stuff as i got no idea how the owner treat his stuff. but thank you for replying
kenshin07 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 No problem just happen to see that someone is selling the rs6 so might just let you know :) As I read thru your thread, I notice that u be going more towards movies and some music. Why not go for denon amp as your initial plan? I find denon sounded more neutral which is good for people who use for movies and music. I suggest getting a good front end with better amp first will be the priority then slowly add in the rest.
m0j0_vin Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 If you're willing to import you might want to consider the PSA XV15 or XS15 subs.
the_king Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 @ kenshin07 Denon at around 900 to 950 price range do not have pre out. only AVR-2313 (about 1.3k and above model have pre out) the problem for not getting a good front end with better amp is cost my ear are not train yet, so i have no idea what i will like.
kenshin07 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Haha no worries, most of us started out with this hobby with untrained ears too. Better not to have trained hearing else you going to get more poison and spend more $$$ lol
the_king Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 HT Revision 3.5 AV receiver: Marantz SR5007 (will get other brand if it there a brand that cost less then 1k with Pre out and audyssey MultEQ XT) Speaker: Front: Monitor Audio BX1 (if have enough cash maybe BX2) Center: Monitor Audio RX Center Surround: 2nd hand is there any speaker of similar price that have th emost detail when played at low voulme? Sub VTF-3 MK4 or PB12-NSD Please advise. thanks
hiryu Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Just curious, why 2 subs? What's the cost of I may ask?
the_king Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 for the 2 SB1000 it about USD 948 i thought it will be easy to place but i was wrong. just a revision build.
ALTK Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 IMHO, RX is quite a good centre. Why not using same series for your front?
the_king Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 not enough cash for the LR so i can go for bx1 or bx 2. after all this 100% for HT only. BTW do you know of any speaker same price as RX center have better detail in low volume
hiryu Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 not enough cash for the LR go can go for bx1 or bx 2 only. after all this 100% for HT only. BTW do you know of any speaker same price as RX center have better detail in low volume In my opinion, RXC is among the best value for money center speaker you can get. I tested quite a few and ended up getting it. For the front left and right, I will advise the same RX series because they matches well. I'm not sure if you tested at PA but I asked Edward to let me try BX with RXC and to me RXC didn't match well. You can search for a thread I made while I was starting out and the choices I made are pretty similar. As for sub, if you wish you can try PSA xv15. Send an email to Tom Vodhanel and he will help you on that. Best thing is to give your floorplan, expectations, demo experience and etc. He is honest enough not to just recommend his subs.
kopidilo Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 bro king, so seems like u have settled for MA for your fronts n centre. Enjoy! For the sub, do note that having 2 subs is much more complicated to configure/calibrate. Do consider HSU or rythmik too. Getting a better centre is a good choice too, but do take note if there are any timbre/tonality differences.
the_king Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 yea, thanks for the help everyone here give me. my aim now money towards a decent center and a decent sub. for sub. HSU VTF-3 MK4 or SVS PB12-NSD or maybe rythmik LV12R and trying to find out down or rear or front is the best for my room (size 4 X 3 meter) Should be able to get it once i am given the key at Fernvale Palms. then pass my number to those that stay around me and contact me if it too loud, when i play at night
the_king Posted May 19, 2013 Author Posted May 19, 2013 also since my room is 4m X 3m. will the performance be the same if i choose smaller sub? hsu VTF-1 MK2 or svs PB-1000
kenshin07 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I am using 2 x 12" sub in my room slightly smaller than yours and find it just right
coupe07 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I also agree with kenshin07. Once u hear the impact of 2 x subs, u wouldn't want to have just one only anymore.
hiryu Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'm not disagreeing with the impact of 2 subs but I think we need to put things into perspective. Given a certain budget, I think more money should given for the front 3 rather than 2 subs. If that extra $500 for the 2nd sub is instead used to upgrade the BX to RX, I feel that the overall impact is more than a 2nd sub. Moreover as the TS is still new, integrating 2 subs might be a challenge that is too much as this point in time. Correct me if I'm wrong but the idea I've gotten since reading the forums have always been Front LRC>Sub.
ALTK Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Agree with hiryu. In my opinion, it is better to start off with a overall more balance system. No point scarifying the SQ of front LR and go for 2nd sub. :)
the_king Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 Thanks for the reply. Is it a good idea to get hsu VTF-1 MK2 or svs PB-1000 instead of VTF-3 MK4 or PB12-NSD and use the money to change better speaker as in from BX to RX?
the_king Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 HT Revision 3.0 was to have 2 SB1000 sub. but i think the it is too much for me. so i thinking a 12inch sub or a 10inch. and if 10inch sub i maybe can change bx to RX speaker. will a BTO bedroom size of about 4mX3m have a big different using a 10inch or 12inch sub? thanks
