Should be a few weeks and it's in my hands, one does hope. Can't wait, even though I still have to. Will resist the temptation from the digital dealers. Cheers, Alberto I ordered a Devin Townsend cd from Germany recently. Only took 11 days. Was very much supprised when l saw it I'm my letterbox. 16 hours ago, progladyte said: Have been playing some prog metal and 70's rock for most of the day and am enjoying both immensely. progladyte
@Shane_B Welcome aboard Shane! Feel free to float about the cabin! You've joined the right forum / thread if you like some good doses of prog music. There's a ton of great recommendations here from a vast assortment of members with an equally diverse level of interest and musical preferences. I used to write reviews for Sea of Tranquility but had to give up due to being too damned busy to keep up the constant demand for my thoughts. If you'd like some other excellent sites to visit, try these: www.rateyourmusic.com This is a huge database type of site that allows you to both rate albums you own or like and include the format in which you own the title. What started out as a small time hobby for the owner has become a huge enterprise with heaps of assistant support staff keeping all the facts and figures up to date. If it has been released in any physical (or digital) format, it will be listed there (except for the very latest items which might take a week or 2 to appear depending on the popularity of the band / artist. www.progarchives.com Another excellent site listing just about every prog title imaginable along with reviews and links to where the albums / media can be bought. www.dprp.net The Dutch Progressive Rock Page - an excellent site devoted to mostly progressive rock with a section for other sub genre (progressive metal / avant garde etc. Very well written reviews are posted frequently by some dedicated guys who know their stuff. I have uncovered literally thousands of excellent bands that were totally unknown to me before reading through their vast database. www.gnosis2000.net This is a very special site that concentrates on all things prog although lately they have allowed members to add some really obscure titles that no-one has ever heard of before. It can become very tedious uploading a nil, (unrated), score on an album you don't have or know but the amount of material on there that is rated by a lot of experts is second to none. The database is open to the public for viewing (but not rating unless you become a member). There are plenty of other great sites as well but these are the ones that I find give the most consistent advice and info for my needs. I've only just sat down to spin this for the first time tonight Pat but as I really like the music from each members "Other" bands, I know I am going to enjoy much of what they serve up. As it's the double version that I have, it might take too long to form an opinion so maybe I'll just concentrate on the first one for the time being. Stay tooned!

ZEN MISTER
I have had this set on order from Amazon since last October with no luck. Took a punt on ‘Importcd ‘ in the U. S and I got it cheaper, and it turned up a week later. Awesome set, very carefully remastered, with the live stuff, CD and DVD a real treat. The actual packaging, historical notes, etc are as good as the Tull, Yes, xtc, and Marllion sets minus the needle drops. ‘MOVING WAVES ‘ and ‘ HAMBURGER CONCERTO ‘ remain stone cold classics, and belong in any serious progressive/ prog collection. awayward
A Magnum fan although they have some hits and misses over the years. Playing their first album Kingdom of Madness, I haven’t played it for a while and have forgotten how good it is, recommended if you want a 1970s prog fix.
progladyte
This is indeed a great band from UK. Their career was marked by some excellent music fused between a number of albums from different periods of time. Whilst none of their albums ever rated higher than a solid 3.68, only one ever dipped below the 3.00 mark at which point one would probably dismiss the album al;together. Here's a clip of their output from 1978 to 2018. If you have heard and enjoyed a band called Saga from Canada or to a lesser degree, Mystery (also from Canada), there is a lot to enjoy here with Magnum Edited February 19, 2021 by progladyte
progladyte
Here's a list of 100 of my all time favourite symphonic rock bands from all periods. (No more than i title per band). I think they are in a reasonable level of alphabetical order but not necessarily by my most favourite. Having experienced first hand the enormous wealth of great progressive music that I was lucky to acquire, this list is a young person's guide as to which albums to try if you like the classic Symphonic Progressive Rock Sound. The list will only contain 1 title from any particular band, the concept here being that a potential listener should take advantage of all the resources available to him or her to track down other titles by that band. Bands with a more esoteric, cacophonous or discordant sound have not been included so don't expect any Van Der Graaf Generator, Magma, Henry Cow, Universe Zero or jazz fusion. This list is simply for the standard symphonic collectors. 1 Acqua Fragile Mass-Media Stars (1974) 2 Ad Infinitum 3 Alusa Fallax 4 Jon Anderson Olias of Sunhillow (1976) 5 Änglagård 6 Aufklärung 7 Banco del Mutuo Soccorso 8 Barclay James Harvest Gone to Earth (1977) 9 Bloque El hijo del alba (1980) 10 Cabezas de Cera Un segundo (2002) 11 Cai Noche Abierta (1980) 12 Camel The Snow Goose (1975) 13 Cathedral Stained Glass Stories (1978) 14 Celeste Celeste (1976) 15 Cherry Five 16 Coda What a Symphony (1996) 17 Consorzio Acqua Potabile Robin delle stelle (1998) 18 Crack Si todo hiciera crack (1979) 19 Cressida 20 Curved Air Air Cut (1973) 21 Dice The Four Riders of the Apocalypse (1992) 22 Druid 23 England Garden Shed (1977) 24 Epidaurus 25 Eris Pluvia Rings of Earthly Light (1991) 26 Ethos 27 Fireballet 28 Fruupp The Prince Of Heaven's Eyes/Modern Masquerades (1996) [Compilation] 29 Galadriel Muttered Promises From an Ageless Pond (1988) 30 Genesis Selling England by the Pound (1973) 31 Gentle Giant Octopus (1972) 32 Gerard Meridian (1998) [Compilation] 33 Glass Hammer Chronometree (2000) 34 Gordon Giltrap 35 Gòtic Escenes (1978) 36 Gracious 37 Granada 38 The Greatest Show on Earth 39 Greenslade 40 Gryphon Red Queen to Gryphon Three (1974) 41 Il Balletto di Bronzo 42 Il Castello di Atlante 43 Il Trono dei Ricordi 44 Il Volo 45 IQ The Wake (1985) 46 Jethro Tull Songs From the Wood (1977) 47 Kansas Leftoverture (1976) 48 Kayak See See the Sun (1973) 49 Kestrel 50 King Crimson 51 Kyrie Eleison The Fountain Beyond the Sunrise (1976) 52 La Maschera di Cera La Maschera di Cera (2002) 53 La Torre dell'Alchimista 54 Le Orme 55 Machiavel Mechanical Moonbeams (1978) 56 Magenta Revolutions (2001) 57 Malibran Le Porte del Silenzio (1993) 58 Mandalaband 59 Manfred Mann's Earth Band The Roaring Silence (1976) 60 Marillion Script for a Jester's Tear (1983) 61 Maxophone 62 Mezquita Recuerdos de mi tierra (1979) 63 M.I.A.
