they have a Sabre and a Dagger which have scored well, but this wine was unlabelled in that respect so I queried its provenance with the following response from Vino Mofo

The juice comes from the same material as the Sabre but it is a different wine, neither the Sabre or the Dagger.

For me,

Taylor's Promised Land Cabernet Shiraz

Majella 'The Musician' - My #1 wine - to me, it beats the Penfolds Bin 389 and I can get 3 Bottles of Musician for the price of 1 bottle of 389!!!

Yalumba 'The Scribbler'

Paringa Pinot Noir

Timos.

The current vintage Wirra Wirra Church Block (Bordeaux blend), which is about $16 by the dozen at Dan Murphys, tasted pretty good last night.

I also like the Wirra Wirra 'Scrubby Rise' Red Blend.  A bit cheaper than the Church Block, but I actually prefer it.

Agree!

I bought one of these to bring along to a Sunday get together for my family who arrived last weekend for my sons wedding the day before.

I couldn't believe the visitors didn't want any so that left more for moi!

Great wine for the money.

Definitely! Was my quaffer of choice a few years back. Went away from it, for no real reason. Must head back to DM for a box or two!  :hiccup

Maybe you did have a reason - the years around 2008 or so were not terrific.

It's always a good wine, but there were a few odd ones, especially when it debuted in 2004, which were stellar (for the price).

Two Australia Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blends that drink well above their price:

2012 Metala White Label

2012 Majella The Musician

These can be found around $15. Just bought three bottles of Metala for $38.
