Can't think of much that does it better. Especially for your budget. I'll throw my L222 into the mix if you are considering vintage. They are mint and I'd sell them for 4k. Couldn't go wrong with the 4429 either, they are stellar if you want something modern. 2

Xecuter Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Hey JBL Fam, Mrs has put in the hard word. I need the JBLs gone sooner rather than later. Willing to negotiate on what I think is already very good value. I just oiled the veneer and they look fantastic. JBL 4320. Listing here. Have a great weekend. Al 1
rsa17 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Just finished re-foaming my MRV308's. Scott from Queensland Speaker Repairs supplied the surrounds. Very easy job, I didn't need to shim the voice coil, the cones fitted perfectly inside the surrounds (I placed the surrounds behind the cone, or if you prefer, on the back of the cone) and the outer edge of the surrounds fitted perfectly inside the basket. So it's impossible to get a misaligned cone. They came out tops. 3
campo007 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Hi all, First post here. These are my 4365's. I've had them for 9 years now. They have served me well. This photo was taken back in 2018 when i was living in an apartment. At the time, i was running them with Audio Note Kits EL34 monoblocks and a passive preamp. The stands were home made by an acquaintance. I have since moved to a house with a much bigger room and unfortunately the stands did not survive the move. I'm currently running them with. Gryphon Diablo and an SVS PB16 sub. This is the best they've sounded. But i'm getting the urge to sell them. I haven't made up my mind yet. I'm thinking of going the open baffle route. 5

DSharp Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 (edited) After a hard day working oudoors, it's great to relax with a G&T and listen to some classic JBL powered by some valve Luxman! I know the L100 has many shortfalls but I've never heard Fleetwood Mac - Rumours sound better on any other system or pair of speakers.. Edited October 13, 2024 by DSharp 11 1
scottkrk Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 (edited) My first post on the forum, I joined about 11 months ago looking for a pair of JBL 4430s or 4435s for my home studio. I started reading the posts and definitely caught the 'JBL Bug'. I ended up importing 4349s, 4367s and 4430s. Many thanks to DSharp for answering my many questions about importing from Japan. Over the last six months I have been listening to the speakers, each have their own strengths but the wife says I have to choose and my 13 y/o son doesn't like it when the old man wants to, "swap-out the 67's" . So given that I have lusted after a pair of 4430/35s ever since I was a teenager in the 80's, the 4430s are the ones for me. The 49s and 67s are in great condition and I will put them up for sale on StereoNet and GumTree shortly. Edited October 19, 2024 by scottkrk 4
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 (edited) @scottkrk sell them all and buy my old 4435 off @Yardbird if he still has them. The 4430 is compromised by the fact the horn is way to efficient for the one 15” woofer. Edited October 19, 2024 by Jakeyb77_Redux

That is certainly an assortment of killer JBLs and I'm glad you like the 4430. Picking them over the 4349 and 4367 might startle a few but I get it. Someone is going to get some fantastic speakers in the 4349 and 4367.

Like you, hearing the 44 series as a teenager left a lasting impression. 44maloo & I had a session a couple of weeks back with the 4345s, moved onto the K2 9800s and then spent the rest of the day listening to the 4435s. The 44 series certainly hold their own when it comes to musical enjoyment. 2

Having owned many Jbl’s I can understand why you would want to keep the 4430’s. they were my first big Jbl’s and then went to 4435’s and still have them as my rears in my home theatre, just can’t part with them. 1

Unlike a lot of folks here (quite envious) I only have room for one pair of speakers in my small home studio. That's why I spent six months auditioning the three sets of speakers. If there was a 'night and day' difference I would have kept one of the newer pairs, but ithere wasn't, and nostalgia is a big factor, misspent youth etc.... As the people on this forum know each speaker has its own character. I would say straight out of the box the 49s sound the most hifi and actually have the most forward bass. The 67s are bass shy for the Japanese market, as noted by their legendary designer Mr Timbers, but they take EQ well and the dual CD is definitely a notch above what the 50 y/o 30s can produce. For those reading this in the future, the amp I used was a Hegel 190, the home studio was an isolated 'room within a room' design, with non-parallel walls, bass traps and acoustic treatment. 1
Xecuter Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Man I do not find 4367 bass shy at all. I want to switch my 4320s out for them but market has gone very cold on luxury goods right now. 1

It is a shame the stars didn't align for our planned 4425, 4430, 4435, 4349 and 4367 shoot out at your place. It would have been epic, Vintage vs. the Young-Guns, "Dolly Partons" vs. Dual Compression Drivers! 3

I want to switch my 4320s out for them but market has gone very cold on luxury goods right now. It's all in the room I've found the S4700 to be very bass shy (2216Nd vs 2216Nd-1 in the 4367). Just last week I moved to S4700s into another room and they have all the full bass that I always thought they should have. Greg Timber discussed the 4367 and mentioned it responds well to EQ and he mentioned something like a 10db boost. I can't recall the exact figure but it was something crazy high like that. I was floored by the casual comment of such high boost. Scott's room is extremely well designed & built. It's a very serious bit of kit with concealed inbuilt bass traps between the two skins of the room. The walls & ceilings are all non-parallel. It's stunning. 2
Jakeyb77_Redux Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 The S4700 have huge bass in my room. I havent felt the need to integrate my SVS SB100 pro at all. Room is about 5m x 9m though 1
DSharp Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 Let's share some experiences of the first time we heard a JBL that created a lasting impression. Post a line or two about it. What model? What track? For me around 1979, JBL L50 in a small room playing Toto/Toto. That is the very moment that started my JBL journey. 1

That's a serious first impression! 3
ray4410 Posted October 19, 2024 Posted October 19, 2024 i remember going out to Intersound back then and they had the dd55000s at the front window before i walked in i just stood there in (well the pic says it all)have had several JBL speakers since and still do 1 1
