M3 is heavier than Q3. Good luck to you if you can throw either of them anywhere! Our resident Gorilla Gym junkie Mr Tasso already tried. Maybe that is why he's got a dicky knee....

Ahhh.., I now know why he was on moon-boot for months...

He missed the installation of the YG racks for the same reason. They are insanely heavy also. Then load it up with all that Esoteric gear, and the whole shebang only sits on 3 small sharp steel spikes, I hate to think how many pounds per square inch digging into the concrete floor that works out to be.

This is my latest addition to my system. It’s a very rare name to us. The Pilium Elektra DAC. Once connected, I know somethings different. A lot more dynamic to blow me away, better bass articulation and authority. All the changes just because I changed a dac. This is hard to imagine for me before I own this dac. A very interesting brand indeed.

One more picture of this beast.

Eh.., so I had the privilege re-visiting Tony’s setup after a year long of COVID....

Much had evolved with his setup since we crossed path, for the better it is.....! Ahem $$$$$

The implementation of Magico S5s MkII prior COVID was already a major step up forward achieving an overall balance in the overall SQ performance. Unprecedented, the speakers brought immediate engagement to any listener attending to his renovated-environment. And yet from today visit.., it remains there were more room to impress.

Those of you are in his circle, will soon made aware of his tight lips personality. A personality of discretion...., he will inevitably NOT slip his tongue unless he’s 1000% certain of the inevitable. Today...., is definitely a reassurance as such....!

This newly addition/acquisition appears physically intimidating..., and such its physical attribute was no less be reassured by the sonic it delivers. I was definitely unimpressed.....!

Tony left me alone for 10 mins to further gather my thoughts with an intention of how I could criticise the newly acquired electronic....! And my thoughts were..., MSB, Esoteric, Accuphase, dCS, to name a fews those I am pretty much familiar...., and this particular called “Pilium” sounds as if it is better than my own, Esoteric or dCS....! Totally unimpressed with such impressive SQ performance... I walked away with “gosh...., what am I going to do?” So I ended up at home listening  to tt setup to minimise the competitiveness.......

OH... almost forget...!
Those of you are playing around with cable lifters, will made aware of how essential they are in minimising the interference of Mother Earth Electromagnetic flux....

Through this experiment, Dr Tony has done a research in this topic along.... His findings are cable lifters will significantly improved your sound system/setup when using a toilet paper roll.... So there you go... you can forget the exotics cable lifters from Shunyata, or AudioRevive....,

During COVID lockdown, it was evidently that toilet paper rolls were in hot demand... Audiophile are those got caught with bulk buy during this time..., and they were all can’t be wrong..., or could they?

Thanks Tony for your hospitality as always... great food and tunes....

Hopefully catch up with you here in my much modesty DAC setup in a fortnight!

So what sound do you prefer, S5Mk2 or M3? I do like the M-Cast bronze color of those speakers. My S3 were pewter, I could easily live with bronze, but M3 comes in any color you want as long as it's carbon black!

Chanh you found my Best cable lift implementation, solid, tall and absorb energy. No wonder when there is a lockdown there is a huge demand of toilet rolls 😜

Cable lifting is an aspect of the hobby I haven't got into yet.

I prefer none of the above if I have to sell my organ.

I am much preferring a pair of M6. 🥰 If I can see a reasonable offer within AU.

Ultimately, this is what I I love have if one day I win the Power Ball. With this, will surely put an end to my silly upgrade path.

This thread is astonishing! Such a rapid turnover, and the photos are great - they show the system evolving and , dare I say, maturing over time.

Thanks very much for the entertainment, inspiration and education.

(My wallet disagrees with all of that:))

No need to sell organ. I can do mates rates on M3 when I upgrade to M6. The S-Sub would also become redundant, I expect. I can't see myself with M9, the look just doesn't grab me as much as the M2/3/6 look does. And it's way too much money, simple as that.

Looking forward for you to upgrade to M6

Hi Guys

M6 too big for your room Brodricj?

Yes, M6 too big. M3 + S-Sub is probably getting close to M6 performance for about half the price. I don't know, there has only been one pair of M6 in Perth and I didn't get to see it before it was quickly sold in a deceased estate and went to live in Queensland.

Brodric, your current setup is in well balance. M3s are just perfect in that environment hey. Though, get the M6s and should that not working out for you... I will then accept mates rates on M6s...! 😁

I tried to search recommended room space for M6 but didn’t find any. I assume you need 50sqm to let it breath.

The speaker isn't constrained by the proximity of room boundaries, and can be as close as 0.5m from the rear wall and still achieve excellent bass response. Try that with a Wilson speaker, it won't work. M6 would fit in my music room, but it's physical presence would be over-bearing and it would look gorgeously odd. I'm sure it would sound great, but you do need to be mindful there should be some space left in the room for a listener to sit. Having said that, whilst I only buy speakers new, if I had known about that M6 up for sale in Perth I would have grabbed it in a heart-beat. The challenge then would be to lose 10kg of belly fat so I could fit in the same room as M6. My electronics are of suitable pedigree for M6, but my available space is not.

My dac has filter settings. I found it’s quite noticeable if you AB them. My preference is short delay slow roll off. It gives a hollow around the sound. Not the most accurate but a bit more relaxed.

The super roll off makes instrument very clear, you know exactly what’s playing. But for vocal it’s almost a bit too clean. But again this is personal preference I’m sure there will be people like ultra high definition. Maybe very good when playing full orchestra.
