I was going to put this in the jazz thread, but it's more appropriate here.

This also might belong in jazz but I just finished listening to NP Molvaer's "An American Compilation" and I'm feeling a little stunned. Not quite sure what to make of it but I'm keen to spin it a few more times to get my head more fully around it. Not "difficult" music by any means, but the flow and sheer variety of moods on this is something else.

This fits in somewhere between the dub techno of MVO's former outfit, Basic Channel and the minimalist jazz of Dawn of Midi. We're talking deep, spacey sounds here. I like it. I'll be buying these.

The label's first release since things went quiet in 2010 is Suns Of Arqa - All Is Not Lost - But Where Is It?

now this stuff really rocks! If you can track down the 12 inch single Acid Tabla Dub with flip side GD Magick (Brujo Magick) it sounds incredible on a good system, amazing dynamics thanks to Adrian Sherwood's (On U Sound) production no doubt

Rabih Beaini - Abidaya - 2013 - TIDAL Streaming

Here's the sort of electronica that would appeal to some of the forward thinking brothers from the Jazz Currently Spinning thread. This is deep, dark and organic electronica made up of synth drones, drums, guitars, organs and woodwinds.

 

Rabih Beaini will be doing a late night gig with the Anomaly crew at The Burdekin on May 2nd. I'll be keen to check it out.
