Great song, but wasn't a hit (unless you count reaching 45 in the UK). I thought of this one when Temptation was posted earlier.

Possibly one of the leading candidates for the worst song of all time:)

Inspiration lives.

Bernie Taupin - Citizen Jane

This is the only hit that I think Bernie had as a solo artist.  He had numerous hits with Elton John's as his lyricist.

If you listen carefully you'll hear Elton doing backing vocals in this song.

He was also busy with Alice Cooper in his hey day. Most albums up to Goes To Hell, not sure about after that.

Does this one qualify?

G.Wayne Thomas - Open Up Your Heart

N.B I was aware of the other 2 John Rowles singles, however I included If I Only Had Time because I assumed the others weren't hits even though they did make the charts. Which poses the question. What exactly constitutes a hit? Top 5 or Top 40?

"Hush Not A Word..." peaked at #11 in Oz & #9 in NZ. "CMM" at #20 in Oz and #1 in NZ...

Lots info here...

I think generally Top 40 is the reference, if Top5, this thread wouldn't have grown to 23 pages long!
