New Sensations Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 Oh, and a big thank you to zb for a neat "cable 101". Nice one.
Nigel Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 JD, I don't really need to compare cables. If they sound different, which is highly likely, then the 2 sets of cables vary in their resistance, inductance &/or capacitance. That's all there is. Plus swapping cables on my system is a pain. Recently I took ZB's advice to try a coax cable (not sure whether it's data cable or what) but coax means minimal inductance and guess what....he was right, again. Simple policy for improving your hi-fi....do whatever ZB suggests.
Guest Muon Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Very good idea, Johnny. Best way to investigate anything is to try, and see/hear Personally, I have never had the opportunity to try Cryogenic treatment on any gear...I was at one stage going to get some output transformers treated, but never got around to it. Does it make a difference? I'm not sure, but from what I have looked at on the net, I can't discount it either.
rantan Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I try my best to always be as positive as possible in threads so I think I will STFU now. before I say something I will live to regret. I always aim to keep an open mind on everything because I am still learning about audio every day I visit this place, but I guess not everyone is the same. FWIW I would be happy to try some cryo cable in my system and report on it honestly. Over and out on this thread.
Once was an audiophile Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Sigh. Looking at how this thread has developed today it's no wonder I'm feeling jaded with these this forum. There are some really helpful people here being driven away because many threads resemble the first 20 mins of Kubrick's 2001. Perhaps someone would take up kajak's offer in comparing a cryo wire and a non-cryo wire? Nigel, how about it? Then you could send them onto someone else to try? ask paul khoo for a untreated pair of his interconnects then compare

FYI: Your cable is off-the-shelf high power coax, used for transmission of RF. It is very different to coax used for reception. It has far more copper.
