Guest Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Hi all, I have noticed lots of Audio retailers are now advertising Advance Paris gear...has anyone purchased or listened to it? They have monoblocks and preamp for very reasonable amounts...just wondering if anyone on SN who has any of their gear?

I cannot comment too much about the product itself as I have had only brief and cursory experience with it. But as Marc said, Synergy are the distributor. They are also the Rega distributor and VAF is a Rega dealer, so I deal with Synergy quite a bit. And they are good people, my Synergy rep Paul is a great guy and they have a good and decent service department (coming as I do from a previous role as a service department manager, a good after sales/service department is very important to me when selling their product). So from that point of view, you should feel confident that should you buy Advance Paris, you will be looked after if there ever is an issue. 2
audiofeline Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 And here is the Advance Paris website, to get things back on track and to explore their range https://www.advanceparis.com/en/ 1
cafe67 Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 (edited) Their design ( those big VU meters, etc blue lighting) reminds me of another cheaper priced brand that used to be used here , but damned if I can remember the name - Think it might have been European sounding? Edited May 21, 2024 by cafe67
aussievintage Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 I don't get a good feeling from the website "Our products make music dance with VU-Meters" Not something I would put on my website 1
Guest Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 It probably sounded a whole lot nicer in French ... translation perhaps

Cloth Ears Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 3 minutes ago, aussievintage said: Now that you mention it, yeah Sounds nicer, but the words are essentially the same. Doesn't stop the units being good...in fact, if you let an amp designer be in charge of the advertising text, you might get exactly the same sort of guff! 2

Guest Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) I went to a dealer this morning to have a look and listen to the Advance Paris gear. The dealer is Hey Now HI FI, run by Geoff Haynes-and the whole experience was what it should be. I have bought many things from this particular retailer, and each time is fantastic- real old fashioned service, listened to what I was looking for before the session, set up gear, patient and honest in his opinion of the sound we listened to. The reason I raise this service is that this is in stark contrast to many retailers who who are very well known in Melbourne but the service is awful. great service and understanding still exists- but you may have to pay slightly more for the product- which I don't mind doing. Any case- back to listening: I was interested in looking and seeing how the AP gear was made- and I have to say considering the price point it is very well put together. The general finish is to a very high standard, and I actually liked the gloss black finish on the pre amp/CD player and integrated amp. Not sure about the large VU meters- very much trying to imitate McIntosh I think? Like many of you I have had a multitude of gear over the years- but my main systems have always revolved around Naim as I like their sound. Due to the path and the cost of Naim now, I have left that particular cult (!) and looking else where. Geoff, had a clear understanding of the sound I was looking for and though he didn't have the same speakers that I have (Franco Serblin floorstanders) so he set up a pair with similar sound and dynamics- a pair of Magico's. These were hooked up to a AP XCD9 cd player, XP700 pre amp and Xi1100 integrated amp. Compared to my Naim I thought that the sound was more detailed and defined, had no harsh edges and had a warmth about it that was missing from my Naim. Soundstage and presence was excellent and I spent an hour thoroughly enjoying the listening experience. In summary- I thought they punched well above their weight- both in sound produced and overall quality of the gear it self. I tried to take into account that the room is nothing like mine and the speakers were different. I was impressed enough to commit to purchasing a preamp/CD player and monoblock's. The sound was very much what I was looking for and obviously wont be everyone's cup of tea- but for under $10k a great system for me. Thanks for all your comment above. Edited May 22, 2024 by Guest

Shout out to the dealer for providing good service as this is sadly rare these days considering the potential purchase value. The CD Player and Pre-Amp looks I could live with but the Xi1100 not so much. This is of course personal preference but if I was spending that sort of money I'd want to like how it looked in the rack/room.
Guest Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Post has been amended- includes dealer- who was Hey Now Hi Fi- run by Geoff Haynes.

grammefriday Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 I can vouch for Hey Now HiFi and Geoff having bought a couple of things from him this year. 1
mrrock84 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hey guys. We've been importing and selling advanced paris in Croatia for about 4 years now. Looks aren't for everyone, but the price is. They are exceptional products for the price. The classic series is really nice. The xa160 power amp is a bargain, I believe it uses Toshiba output transistors. When it comes to reliability, they have been very reliable. They seem to pair very well with klipsch speakers. 6
cafe67 Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 Good reviews on the A12 integrated https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/advance-paris-a12-classic https://hometheaterhifi.com/reviews/amplifier/integrated-amplifiers/advance-paris-a12-classic-integrated-amplifier-review/
rabidlistener Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Ah! Advance Acoustic/Paris amps. A few years ago I bought an Advance Acoustic X-i75 integrated s/h from this very site. I was after remote balance and this came up at a good price. This amp has the lot :- tone controls/balance with remote adjustment, a built in DAC & Phone Stage, is reasonably well made and sounds great. It has been relegated to the garage system these days as I was so impressed an X-i125 took its place in the main system complete with those VU Meters.
