Personally I like both sections, although HT is what brought me here. Having said that I have other interests apart from HT which i explore in OT.

I dont think that all off topic posts are irrelevant just as I dont think all on topics post are relevant. In fact ive found a lot of off topic posts very interesting, educational, funny etc etc.

i dont see a problem with the current system. if it aint broke dont fix it.

I believe Andrew already suggested removing Post counts altogether. maybe some reading his posts rather than "playing politics" and living by petty grudges would be in order by some (no, I'm not referring to you MM).

I think I've suggested it twice and supported two other people who have suggested it in this thread alone.

I still have the PM I sent Timo and Caniffe asking for my post count to be reset to zero when I was accused of post count stacking

Get rid of them all together I say (that would make 5 times in one thread now).

[*]Deduct 5 from the post count for posts containing nothing more than “+1” and/or emoticons.

Provided naturally you lot don't abuse it like last time

Trouble is, Troll Hunters naturally will gain 'this person is NOT helpful' points from the Trolls and/or Troll Sympathisers... whilst some may have abused it for fun (like deliberatly giving lyle an unhelpful rating (example only - seeing as hes not here ATM...))

Unless its derived from people marking posts as 'helpful' then that gets automagically turned into a rating for the OP....

Actually, it was me in post #54 but that's a moot point anyway.

I haven't yet seen any objections to having no post count being displayed for everyone. Perhaps we can replace it with the counter for total days banned, that's a more worthy badge of honour.... right Barkeep!

Absolutely! - now thats the best suggestion ive seen!! it'd need to be in hours tho... cos not all bans are 3 days some 'time for internal reflection or meditation' to refortify ones inner-hunter, prior to continuing a Battles is sometimes presented in hours

Anyway, the ignore lists are pretty useless really as you still receive those people's posts in the notification emails. I have a few people on my ignore list for lack of ethics in DVD trading, this acts as a personal bad traders list for me to know which people to avoid.

To be honest, I get more peeved by some of the arseh0le behaviour that I see in the HDM trading free-for-all than I do by the blatant post count whoring in O/T.

With all due respect mo, I think you're just firing shots at anything that looks like the enemy here. For all the water that has passed beneath the bridge, I have every right to be offended with Andrew publicly stating that I am on his ignore list. I pride myself on my overall contribution to this forum, and that has nothing to do with post counts. For Andrew to have me on ignore, pisses all over that contribution. And it stands to reason, that if his ignore list is bursting at the seams the way it appears, that he might want to hold back on the self righteous attitude that his proposed solution in this thread (5 times, I think was his count) was some kind of divine revelation only apparent to him...

If that's a dig, then let him defend himself. Our friendship deserves better than this.
