Had the pleasure of visiting R&oR earlier in the week. There has been a few changes since I was last there. First chance I've had to hear the i33s. Very impressive indeed. Can only get better with some more time and a bit more room. Played a fair range of tunes including some homemade and home produced stuff. (I havent forgot those discs Nathan). Deep Purple Made In Japan and Queen with Paul Rodgers Live sounded superb. It was nice to hear some Vafs higher up the $ ladder than my own in a home setting rather than the showroom. Very, very nice. Great tunes on great gear and good company. Pretty hard to beat really.

I agree, i think the VAF's need a little bit more room possibly away from the listening position to get that bass hitting harder.

Picked up some JB3's courtesy of Mr Darko. Pretty bloody impressive little things. Considering they are a fair bit smaller than the Travagans i have, they still put out a weighty sound. I think the Travagans do it better in terms of bass, ill leave it a bit longer and see what i think. They arent as boring as the Travs though, after the intital amazement of the speaker size and sound output the Travs tend to fall away and I need to keep turning them up to stay excited.

Read some stuff on the net about alignment protractors and got the right one, adjusted the counterweight and cart accordingly so it sits straighter on the head. Sounds alot better now, the sound doesnt seem to favour the right anymore. An absolutely amazing change, no more sibilance, centered bass, stronger 3d sound stage.

I want to get some digital scales and check the force, Ive got it up higher than recommended and it sounds just right

I want to try and get some nice shots of the VAF system but im just sucking a bit, might have to ask the brother for some help with his fancy arse camera. Later on down the track ill add an I-91 centre and swap out the Rotel power amp for my Bel Canto. Then let the JB3's run of the 300iu and run the Ml1's off the Melody. Use the JB3/Travs for day to day and the ML1's when i need to heat up the room.

I dont think the Rotel is bringing the best out of the VAF's, they sounded much better hooked up to the Bel Canto. We are talking twice the price in amps though, so i thought as much.
