alright, i think im getting this photography thing. Some more tryouts. I welcome hints and tips

Oh yeah, i picked up some B&W stands today. Very sturdy and look sweet.

Also had a listen to a pair of B&W 805's, did pretty much everything right.

Nice setup. Very tidy despite the cramped space, evidence of some careful thought in the lay out. Love the wooden rack.

Your photos exposure is better this time round, capturing the ambience better. I believe you are trying to capture the actual light and mood of your listening session hence the single light instead of bright ceiling lights or ugly direct flash light.

When you take photos, you should think what is the main subject here, how can i compose this to make it stronger, highlighted ( different perspective, angle, etc) within the frame. Keep it simple sometimes by excluding some background stuff, accentuating the central subject. Look at the lighting available, think exposure. With little light available, you should try using bigger aperture, higher iso and bracing with slower shutter speed to reduce hand shaking motion blur unless you have a tripod. Shoot lots and be critical of the results and you will learn fast.

Nice little Bel Canto amp tucked away in there :(

Bel Canoto fits in nicely hey. Loving the sound through the little Travagans (should take a picture of that setup aswell i suppose)

thanks for the tips Jaspert. Im just trying to show off the lighting a bit (it really is that orangey glow) and not use the flash. Ill keep trying and posting away, one day ill get the perfect shot. I think a tripod would help a lot

Top stuff R&R. I love the massive leap forward your system has taken from the first post. Impressive. And your shots are terrific. I cant stand flash most of the time - completely kills the mood in a shot.

Ok little update.

Got some Lenehan Ml1's. Small Aussie crowd, youve probably never heard of em. Anyway, turns out they are pretty good, pretty damn good.

photos looked better on the camera screen, they are a bit dark here. Rooms a bit messy atm, sorry about that

Very noice RaoR and I bet the ML-1s sound great in there. I don't know about the room looking untidy..........you've made the bed mate!;)

Cheers,

Keith

Geezus you've got it bad haven't you Nathan?;)

If you haven't heard of Lenehans little ML-1's your not a SNA member -You must have been having a Laugh

yes Grumpy, just having a bit of a laugh every man and his dog has heard of these speakers on here. Its true what they say about the finish, it has to be seen to be believed. To tell the truth i thought they looked a bit dodgey in pictures, the plastic wasnt as black etc, but they truly are beautiful to look at.

ive only spun a few discs so far this arvo to get an idea of the sound. They seem to prefer the CD player to my 320 mp3s (no brainer) might spin some vinyl next. So far the biggest thing is how clam they are at high volume. The Focals and VAFs tended to fall apart and become unbearable. These seem to sound better the louder they go.

Its always a gamble buying something unheard but im very happy with these so far

Cheers for showing your setup. Not bad for uni student indeed.;) I had nothing comparable when i was in uni.

Yeah!

I had a TEAC 4 in one!

A bit better than my baby Castles then :bump:

well they do some things alright but miss other things. Not sure what to make of them yet

they love metal though, i can tell you that much

Best I start saving, OMG that's another thing on my wish list.

1. Peter Riggle VTAF

2. Heavier weight for the tonearm.

3. ML1's

4 Padre's Valves.

In no order.

Best buy some Lotto tickets.

so, yeah. Travagan 3". Ive never really given these a go as a serious speaker, they were just used for the desktop playing xbox and stuff while at the PC. Put them in with the Melody. Wow. Just playing some crappy mp3s atm, will try other sources later.

really great at what they do, enough bass for the music. They dont seem to struggle filling the room, vocals sound so sweet, plenty of hang to the instruments. They have that 'air' to them thats hard to describe.

my bro came in and said how good those new speakers sound (ML1's) little did he know the Travs were plugged in....

Hi RaOR, since you asked what you are doing wrong ... the first shot is underexposed :nana Good looking little system, and miles better than my first system when I was a uni student! Back then there was no Lenehan Audio - the equivalent priced Australian speakers were Muratori bookshelves but I could not afford them ;)

got some more pics for you before the Melody got in there

Hi Nathan,

Congrats on a lovely set up. The photos look great & you've chosen some high quality & good value components which punch well above their weight. Well done! I agree with Mondie's observation, if you can eventually get your system into a larger room that will improve the sound quite a bit. And seconded; this system kicks the arse of my first system! Wowza...

Great looking pics Nathan, all you need is a nice looking model perched on the bed for that real pro look.:nana

All that glowing warmth will come in handy these last few nights , It's been a bit cooler in Adelaide.

Get out of there RaoR ! , pack up , leave now ! , great little system mate , and as others have noted will just get better in a larger room.

Though in saying that I bet it sounds pretty good at more sedate listening levels too.

Thanks guys.

It doesnt sound to bad at all. At first i was having problems with the bass on the ML1's due to them being rear ported vs every other speaker ive owned. Ive now got the speakers about a foot from the rear wall and it sounds a lot better. Also did away with any toe in, found that i get better soundstaging now.

Im actually pretty happy with how it sounds, will get a bigger place before i upgrade again. Just looking at a new DAC and Cart. Then heaps more music.

looking good mate.
