Dear Chanh, while remaining relatively steady for many years, your upgrade pattern appears to have recently entered a runaway expansion phase, please stay safe at this dangerous time!

🙂

Remember it's still all about synergy, between grape juice and the equipment.

Thank you so much @tripitaka! A great friend always guides one back in line.👍👍👍

In light of my recent intention to upgrade my power and preamps, I have decided to temporarily halt my progress. These are substantial investments, and I do not currently feel the need to make further upgrades, as the current setup appears to be highly engaging and effective. I anticipate that upgrading these components will be inevitable, potentially introducing additional variables and potentially necessitating further reinvestment if they do not meet my expectations.

My primary focus now is to refocus on my analogue audio sources. I have amassed over 1000 records that are currently sitting idle, awaiting their turn to be played. I intend to utilise these records and bring them back to life.

Thank you once again, @tripitaka. I greatly appreciate this genuine advice from a friend. 🙏

When the new Cat and Phono arrived, it remains to be seen if SACD will still be an adequate source.

Oops.. Oh no, it’s time to hide! Duck for the cover!!😁

I will need to borrow your ears when you travel to Perth again. Hopefully, Mark will have it properly set up by then.

It would be my absolute pleasure to lend you my ears and share your company again.

Let me know once you have the new phono and cartridge and I'll make the trip up.

The cartridge does sound like it will be something pretty special, not to mention the M7s would be worth the trip just to hear them.

If you like I can also bring my speaker cables up as well for another interesting comparison if that's something you'd be interested in.

Take your sleeping bag. It's difficult to escape from the room the M7 lives in.

Could well be good advice !! 😁

Hi Chanh,

Congratulations on the new speakers and thank you so much for reinvigorating my love for my system by posting your updates. I've been concentrating on my HT lately and haven't cranked the 2 channel system up for a few months.

I still love the sound of my S5s with the Accuphase front end, pre and Class A power amp. I can only imagine how amazing the M7s must sound.

Keep up the posts so I can continue to salivate! I hope you and your guests are enjoying Sunday afternoon in your amazing room. Maybe when I'm in Perth I can prevail on you to give me an audition.

I thought I'd post a photo of my (really) humble system

Hello Andrew,

I hope you are doing well. It has been a considerable amount of time since your last visit, and I would be delighted to have you back soon.

Please do not hesitate to contact me when you are in Perth. We should organise a gathering with Tasso, SteveM, and the rest of the group to reminisce and create new memories, as you used to do.

Chanh.

Hi Andrew,

While your system may not be quite in the dollar range of Chanh's it is still a very enjoyable system to listen to.

That's the wonderful thing about our little hobby, it can be enjoyable regardless of whether your budget happens to be meagre or right through to the ultra high end if the system is well thought out.

I have successfully restored my turntable.

This marks the culmination of my journey into the realm of music.

Today was a remarkable day with Perth experiencing both highs and lows downfalls. I commenced the day with a typical digital domain, where convenience is always the primary consideration. The ritual of having a record up and spinning requires a substantial amount of momentum to get up the chairs and carefully select the appropriate record to enhance the listening experience, which is typically consumed for approximately 10 to 20 minutes. By the time the vinyl record landed on the turntable, it took another few minutes of anti-static and brushing, ensuring that the delicate needle was safely placed. Consequently, it took approximately half an hour for the day to pass, leaving me just before I could begin enjoying my music. However, once the initial setup was completed, a high-quality record pressing effectively concealed the digital domain from view. There was no going back, and regardless of how great, costly, or ultrahigh-end a digital setup may be, it is no match for the immersive experience provided by a physical record.

Today was precisely that—a day dedicated to reviving my digital audio system. I had the digital servers and DAC operational until then. I had modified the Technics SP10 mk3 turntable using a CNC-powered armboard to suit the 14” Kuzma tone arm and my Accuphase AC5 cartridge (which is now available for sale). With the assistance of the AudioNet PAM G2 phonostage and EPX power supply, I elevated my Technics TT, which had been resting for an extended period. I eagerly anticipate the performance of the new cartridge.

I extend my sincere gratitude to @mtffor the loan of his photostage - PAM G2. Regrettably, I will not be able to return it until I have sourced a replacement for myself. Sorry Mark! 🤪🤣

Haha, you are welcome Chanh, use them till you have replacement, no problem.

That experience today was utterly breathtaking and I absolutely agree, once we went analogue we were transported into another realm. That experience was ethereal.

Those speakers are unbelievable, jaw dropping, sublime, what more can I say.
I literally can’t listen to my own set up right now so FU for that.🤣

Wow, what a fantastic couple of weeks it’s been! Time just flies when you’re having fun and finding new meaning in life. Ever since the M7s entered my world, it’s felt like I’ve found the perfect partner. No matter what I throw at them, they handle it effortlessly, bringing an addictive and unforgettable experience.

I’ve explored everything from highly compressed digital tracks from spodify to average recordings on QoBuz and even indulged in SACD, CD, and vinyl. The M7s sound with remarkable clarity, creating a vast soundstage that feels both immense and deeply immersive. The low, thunderous bass notes hit you like an unexpected storm, only to fade away as quickly as lightning! You have to be here in the moment to truly experience this level of realism—something that an iPhone recording simply can’t capture. It’s been an exhilarating journey.

I’m returning to work tomorrow! This upcoming transition back to duty presents the greatest challenge of my entire career.

I want to thank to all my friends who have supported me during this journey—your presence and encouragement have truly illuminated my path. Looking ahead next Sunday, I will have another gathering to those I had to postpone today. Hope you still can make it.

A huge shoutout to @Mendes and @mtf! Thanks a million for going above and beyond today to help me set up the TT. Despite Perth’s rubbish weather, you still managed to make it! I really appreciate your kindness and support!

OMG, you expect these to be good, but lordy, lordy they exceeded what I thought would be possible.

So Chan, vinyl rules yeah, the Dire Straits and the Sheffield Labs Drum album were something else.🥰

Really looking forward to hearing the new Cart when it arrives.

Those amps are just fine, just enjoy it now mate!!

@mtf, good to see you and Pen, catch up soon.

Thanks for your great hospitality Chan🍷🙏

GT2000 is not a lowly @a.dent

The TT is exquisite, and your cart is equally impressive. Nagaoka is a renowned brand. Could you please share the source of your purchase? From @thewaves

I trust he has not forgotten about inviting me over for an audition to his latest TAD reference speakers and TAD electronics!

I've had the Yamaha GT2000 for about 10 years. I bought it through Easyauction Japan.

I made some changes in my system. Upgraded power cables on the Halcro mono blocks and Grandioso C1X pre-amp, downgraded the power cable on N1T and upgraded some grounding cables. And removed from service some PS Audio power cables.  @AccMagi7s those PS Audio power cables I sold you years ago you need to upgrade them to Shunyata Sigma XC v2.

I am broke Brodric. Is there a free interest repayment scheme for the Shunyata Sigma XC v2? 🤔

You are right all my power cables are kettle power cord. There so much room for improvement in this alone.

My mega $$ Cart should be here in a couple days and the phono stage is not far away. It will be interesting to compare to Mark’s AudioNet PAM G2….!

I love nothing more than ultra high end, I do dabble in some high end components and speakers somewhat.  But the one thing I don't have is a truly good room.

I have a spacious area, but rather low ceiling.  This creates alot of issues.

I would never go as far as chahn, but! I can appreciate people having the courage to do it. I have stumbled upon a new audiophile vlogger on YouTube,  and I really enjoy some of the content.

I feel in the latest video if you listen close enough you will notice that once the room is distortion free and energy is contained and dealt with correctly,  things like power cable upgrades really seem to dissipate in the owners mind.  I am a massive fan of rooms.

Interestingly enough, this YouTube video does explain  some of the craziness dennis foley has created . Albeit a controversial guy, and some ambiguity around where some idea were sourced from originally...

That's not a kettle cord.

THIS is a kettle cord:

My kettle cords are lazier and bulkier than yours, which is why they are rounder and heavier. Apart from that, they offer no benefits other than conducting electricity. 😁

When you distill your system down to the basics, being Wadax + Gryphon monos you will only need three Shunyata Sigma XC v2 power cables.

Wow! This guy has some impressive adult toys! I have listened to the Kodo, and they were amazing. You would need a massive room for them to breathe—at least 8 to 10 meters wide and 16 meters long.
