  • Happy father's day to those who are celebrating it.   Caught up with some SNA folk yesterday. Quite the headache today..   @metal beat @Viognier @klackto

  • Very good cool climate wine and certainly good value compared to the Clonakilla flagship. Co-fermented with 5% Viognier. Has the classic Canberra Shiraz white pepper.

  • Had a great lunch at Oncore by Clare Smyth yesterday. Very very exe wine list, so did matching wines..  grabbed an extra glass of this Neb.   Views speak for themselves

Not currently drinking, but was flicking through some pics and found this, crikey, it bought back some memories.

The La La was quite the wine as was the CdP, what a day it was.

Good old Dingabledinga (on the back label). We used to live at no. 1344 Brookmans.

On the Barolo again...

The 2013 Bussia looks a little warm and disjointed. I reckon its going into sullen teenage withdrawal. I'm expecting dyed black hair, torn black jeans and a nose ring anytime soon. We might ignore each other until about 2032.

I visited that winery while I was in my brief gig as a wine label sales rep. Went underground in the cellars. Pretty cool location and winery.

Give them three to four years ideally. I've found the PYCM Bourgogne Blanc to be a little uninspiring until it has a few years in bottle then they come together beautifully. The Leflaive and Sauzet BB's have greater appeal when young, their 22's and 23's are delicious now.

The 21 Sauzet BB is looking good tonight and will go another 10 years easy, quite steely.

Looking forward to giving it some airtime to see how it evolves over the next 3 or 4 hours.

image.jpegNot mine(out of my preferred price range) but was offered a glass and I nodded yes.

And...nodded again.

(was at gtg up here on the FNC, music came first and then drinking(oddly enough) took over😐)

G'day Lee

Burgundy vs Anim Abel. Stunning wines. All blind tasted and the Abel absolutely held its own. No-one picked it in the lineup.

My last bottle of Tertini. It’s been a bit hit and miss cellaring their wines over the years but this one while definitely showing all the signs of its age is tasting OK.

Almost time for a shot of sipping T.

I have one a week on a Friday to kick off the weekend, a ritual you may say.

Now, decisions need to be made, ~Ole 🌵and happy weekend team

I have some of their Arneis from the same era, aged extremely well and only opened for special Sunday lunches.

Starting the WE with a rhymer.

After a week of oppressive (no wind) 30 - 35+ temps, today was still bloody hot so 10 minutes in the fridge now and again while drinking maintained a better drinking temp.

The damages from last night weren't minor. I began with a few stubies, followed by the King George V, then moved on to the 707 1994 vintage and the 2007 vintage. To finish up, I enjoyed a light refreshment with Lark Tokay 100. While the experience at the time was fantastic, I woke up feeling a bit unbalanced, as if the goodness had taken over. Maybe the additional cigars contributed to this, or perhaps my aging body just hasn't bounced back yet. Regardless, all were very enjoyable and the result of careful sourcing. I noticed the Bin 707 1994 vintage has started to lose some of its bold character. Now I realise I should head back to the wine room and start working through the 90s grape harvest more quickly.

I’d blame the cigars.. that high quality booze won’t be at fault. 😊

Today’s lineup. Another very warm one here.

Rhymer is courtesy of many recommendations on here and part of a tip from @Mendes for the entry level from this producer.

The Cabernet is a Winestar special $12.99 (RRP $75). Open one the other night - excellent buying.

Stay safe out there people…
