  1. Does anyone know what the story is with Annihilation 4K release in Australia ? I can't seem to find any info on it, and the only place I can buy it is in the US. I've been resisting watching it on Netflix for ages, waiting for what I thought was a May 29 release.....
  2. Item: JVC X3B Projector Location: Waikerie, SA Price: $780 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Owned from new and mounted in a dedicated HT room from day 1. Unit is in excellent condition. Has 1204hrs on the original bulb, but that was still good on my screen (120" scope). Comes with original box, 3D sensor and all original insturctions. Can ship anywhere and included in price. Pictures: Picture coming soon. But you know what they look like!
  3. Price reduced to $2500. And I found the box with all accessories!
  4. Thanks al, Yes, just read the differences on the different models, doh! Looks like I'll be getting a spyder... Just thought I could improve things with what I have on hand, eg i1
  5. Oh and I noticed you have the Spyder express colorimeter? But JVC say the Elite/PRO version is required. That's kinda what put me off. I didn't want to dish out another `$300. But if the express does the job then I might just spring for one of those!
  6. Thanks again. Yup,understand how the autocal works, however I don't want to use it. So what I'm after is a way to access the colour management controls without it. Or perhaps there isn't a way? But I can't believe that a pro calibrator would need to have a spyder or i1 just for autocal JVC models surely ?
  7. OK thanks. On a different topic. How am I supposed to adjust the grey scale, gamma etc ? I downloaded the JVC calibration software thinking I could adjust things with that, but it seems you need to use their recommended sensor first to get baseline readings, which I don't have. Clearly I'm missing something fundamental.
  8. Good to know. I think I'll give this one a try also. I don't see the point in absolute accuracy anyway. I even wonder if the gain the screen manufacturers report is accurate? Luckily there is quite a range (12-22ftL) for this measurement
  9. Thanks for the suggestion. Reading the AVS forum it also seems like the LX1330B is quite popular and performs similarly. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/xinbaokeyi-LX1330B-Digital-Lux-Meter-M7E3/253511486760?epid=15004470005&hash=item3b06764d28:g:~HoAAOSwqlFas1LN
  10. OK will do. Any suggestions ? There are a plethora available on ebay.... Thanks.
  11. OK thanks, will do. Why is it though that I can't see the required bars to set brightness and contrast on the SM disk in anything other than enhanced mode ?
  12. Just the brightness and contrast from S&M DVD. I have an eye one display pro but calman doesn't seem to want to detect it, so I'd need to buy new cal software, or use something like HCF free option. Just not sure how much help that will be with HDR content.
  13. Hi, I'm new to the 4k HDR world, and just updated my theatre room. I have a UDP-203 hooked up to a JVC X9500 projector with about 50 hours on the lamp and run through a crystalmorphic lens. Screen is 3m wide 2.35:1 with 1.2 gain and pj throw is about 4m which is pretty much the limit. I'm a little confused with some of the settings and hoping I can get some starting points/tips. The PJ is calibrated other than brightness and contrast with the Spears and Munsil disc. I'm looking to setup user1 = SDR (bluray) and user2=HDR 4K on the projector. and I'd really appreciate some help on starting point settings, especially on HDR4K as it seems more difficult to calibrate. On the Oppo I have HDR - strip metadata, mode 2 and 400nits (maybe too high?) Custom resolution UHD Auto Colour space 4:2:2 Not sure if there is anything else I should set, but left everything else on auto. Projector Picture mode - HDR Color Profile - BT2020 Color Temp - HDR Gamma - HDR ST.2084 Lamp Power - High Lens Aperture - Auto 1 Input Level - Enhanced Color Space - Auto Watching Baby Driver last night I could tell the black level was too high, bright scenes look pretty bright though and I could feel my eyes squinting when the car headlights pointed at the camera during the night time driving scene at the end of the movie. Regards Jamie
  14. Technically speaking the pj is 1080p, so I was a little confused, but I guess that is irrelevant as the signal output is 4K. Interestingly I stripped the HDR flag from the signal last night watching Baby Driver, and the effect was gone. Following this thread I need to do more testing though, but it seems this fixes the problem.
  15. Yup, well that's the thing. I can't find anything in the Oppo and the projector CMD is off. I still get the soap opera effect with HDR 4K. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it... http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=13942335&postcount=3564
  16. Hi All, I'm very new to the 4k HDR world, but just bought a udp-203 and a JVC-X9500. I notice movies have the "soap opera" look to them, like a high frame rate. I make note to not turn on CMD on the projector as I don't particularly like the effect. Is this something that all 4K have ? or is there a setting somewhere that needs to be turned off in the player ? Cheers Jamie
  17. Hi Gtr35, Sorry a little on the low side, but thanks.
