Looking for a Phono pre amp as I have just picked up a Rega Planar 2. Don't know a whole lot about them so any advice would be appreciated.

Looking for something that does both MM and MC but a good MM will do.

First half decent TT. I've had a 1980's technics since brand new with an Otofon OMP30 cart but haven't used it for years. I'll look at the Pro-ject and see what they have.

congrats mate and best of luck

Give us a small review once up and running please

Gat, regarding John's mention of the Pro-ject Phono Box, I have one that came with my recent upgrade. I think it is terrific but can only compare it to the phono stage of a vintage amp that I was previously using and the cheap Behringer model. The Pro-ject meets your price range ($220) and I was interested to see this quote on the Decibel Hi-Fi page:

"Very competent little MM & MC stage at an astonishing price. First-rate starter package" Hi Fi News

Further details of the various models are here.

Cheers

wolster

Hi,Gat474 i have a Project box11 phono stage which I find goes well with the Rega Planar 3 I use,it has MM/MC so its is set for either cartridge.

I'm using a Cambridge Audio 640p, which cost $250.
