Thorens TD160 MK2 with SME 3009 tonearm and Hana SL MC cartridge in great condition. All were purchased from Sound Gallery in Carnegie of Victoria. Hana cartridge was purchased in January 2023. Also included is the Funk Firm Achromat 5mm turntable mat (with a dent on the edge but does not affect sound quality, see the pictures). Original lid with is a light and short mark on one side (see the picture). It has been serviced and set up by John at Sound Gallery in 2023.

All the manuals and the original boxes (even the Thorens box back in 1970s), as well as the original rubber mat are still kept.

I am very happy with the sound of this set and only selling due to upgrade.

Up for sale is one of my Shunyata Omega ethernet cables, 3m in length, with original box.

The cable is transparent, revealing, and quite effective in dealing with noise on networks.

Was used in one of my larger systems, in the position wall to switch, which had a positive impact, exceeding most of the expensive network filters i tried.

Have since moved to a custom fiber configuration into that room (55m cable run), which is paired with the Final Touch Audio (FTA) Methis SE (where Ethernet cables are required) with stunning results.

I still use Shunyata Omega paired with with FTA Methis SE in my other systems, which is far more cost effective than my new setup.

This is a rare thing, a Yamaha pro audio 2 channel rack mount DAC from 1988.

It will decode PCM audio up to 18 bit/44.1khz over AES/EBU or coaxial. Outputs are balanced XLR at +4dB pro level. It uses a linear power supply, a pair of Burr Brown PCM56P DAC chips with custom Yamaha ICs handling the signal input.

I took a punt and imported this unit from the UK some years ago as I was putting together a purist vintage Yamaha system and this DAC caught my eye. I’m really glad I did as it sounds absolutely gorgeous, detailed, liquid smooth, revealing and full. I’ll probably regret selling it but here we are!

It’s in good condition with a few scratches to the top panel, but with a mostly clean face plate.

I've had this unit since about 2008 and it has performed flawlessly. Over the years I have modified it with help from Linear Audio and Pilgham Audio in the Netherlands to maximise its potential.
 
This is truly a flexible and powerful unit. It can be: a DAC, a crossover, an equaliser, a DSP processor, a preamp - or everything at once.
 
It has 6 balanced outputs and 3 balanced inputs, with one configurable analog or stereo digital over AES/EBU up to 24bit 96khz. Internal processing is carried out at 24bit/96khz.
 
The most common scenario would be stereo digital input with stereo three way outputs for active crossover duty. Delay, phase, crossover slopes, parametric EQ, compressor/limiters, it's all there. If you run active with a digital source, or are wanting to experiment with DIY speaker design and prototyping, this is what you want as you can set up and A/B any crossover / delay /EQ parameters imaginable.
 
The basic story here is that Behringer built an amazingly capable DSP but didn't get too ambitious in the analog domain. 
 
This is where some capable Dutchmen stepped in, and put together some excellent mods. 
 
So from Jan Didden via pilgham audio, first of all was the active output board which equipped the outputs with remote controllable ANALOG attenuation and gain post the DACs, and much higher quality output with lower distortion and noise floor. This is a game changer and brings this unit to hi fi status. Super high quality parts are used in this board.
 
This was purchased and installed as a kit in about 2013.
 
Fast forward to about 2019 and I decided to go further, adding again from Pilgham Audio:

Upgraded VREG for the DACs
Upgraded Clock/SRC
 
I also took the opportunity to recap the DAC board with Panasonic electrolytics. I made a custom external enclosure for the transformer and laser engraved the details so it's not just a nondescript black box. 
 
All up I spent about $1200 on mod kits, plus labour hours. It punches way above it's humble original price.
 
I you run active or are interested in doing so - this is a brilliant way to go as it can sit directly between your digital source and your power amplification, being a remote controlled preamp after the active output mod. If you fancy designing your own speakers, also perfect for crossover development.

I bought this pair new from a local retailer for my office setup, especially for the tilt function which made it easy to get great speaker alignment. They may not have heaps of WAF but are ideal for a studio or man cave. Comes with spikes.

Purist Audio Design CAT 7 Diamond Revision Ethernet Cable

This USA hand-crafted Purist Audio Design ethernet cable supports extremely fast
ethernet speeds of up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbs) depending on your NBN connection and retail plan (and the capacity of your router and what you are connecting to). It used the latest CAT 7 technology which is optimised for HiFi (so not a less fast and capable cable than a commercial CAT 8 that is not optimised for music and movies and hence usually much cheaper). You can definitely hear a major difference with Purist if your equipment allows.

Much of that detail is outside of my expertise. However, I was able to try an identical 35 metre cable owned by a local SNA member in my system and it made a huge positive musical difference compared with an ordinary CAT 8 cable. For example, it was much cleaner with less noisy grunge and a quiet background, had better dynamics, and was engaging and far less fatiguing.

The picture of the satchel with serial number is the item for sale which I purchased new on 4 May 2024. The photo of the cable for sale has the original blue connector protection and the cable is tied with string (no extra charge!). I am only selling because the poor wifi in our large old stone house meant that there was sometimes a lag between my iphone selecting a track and the direct Ethernet connection to the streamer, so after much frustration I have had to move to a wifi7 mesh system. So I now use three smaller cables of the same type I am selling.

This was retipped with boron cantilever and MR stylus by Chris Allman at All clear audio last year.

I can provide the invoice for this and encourage you to contact Christ directly to confirm if you want to be overly diligent.

It has 35-40 hours on the needle since retip so is practically brand new. I have spent many hours trying to get it to behave on my SME tonearm, but it gets distortions on about 25% of my modern electronic music records. On my friends Technics SL-1200 it has no issues with the same records. So I'm confident it is an issue with my tonearm compatibility rather than the cartridge. I did send it back to Chris to look over and confirm as well. If I had different music tastes it would be great.

The headshell and wires from the photos are not included in the sale.
