Shaped wood and polished aluminium define Bang & Olufsen’s final two Atelier centenary series members: the Beolab 90 Monarch Edition and Beolab 90 Zenith Edition.

Following B&O’s Titan, Shadow, and Mirage Editions, which marked the 100 years of B&O celebrations last year, the new limited-edition speakers feature exclusive materials and design aesthetics, offering a fresh take on the brand's architectural, multi-driver Beolab 90 loudspeakers.

Earlier in its centenary year, the Danish company also marked the occasion with three special-edition products. These more accessible offerings included exclusive leather touches for the Beoplay H100 headphones, a special weave for the Beosound A5 wireless speaker, and a unique Kvadrat Centennial Cadence fabric for the A9. The final limited edition pieces have now been revealed.

Beolab 90 Monarch Edition

The Belolab 90 Monarch features rosewood lamellas alongside precision-engineered aluminium components, transforming the flagship speaker into a "flowing, sculptural object," according to Bang & Olufsen.

The Monarch edition speakers sport semi-transparent fabric sections that reveal the array of drivers beneath. According to the company, this design integrates functional and aesthetic elements while the warm rosewood and ochre-coloured aluminium crowns “highlight the balance of natural and engineered materials.”

Beolab 90 Zenith Edition

Alternatively, the Zenith Edition is "a symphony of pearls." Here, thousands of aluminium spheres and mother-of-pearl inlays combine to give the special speakers a layered, tactile presence.

The Zeniths' machined aluminium facemask is treated with a pearl blast and dark grey anodised finish. This, says B&O, gives the appearance of an oyster shell. Meanwhile, semi-transparent fabrics also feature on the Zenith as a window to the inner workings.

A circular mother-of-pearl inlay, matching the diameter of the aluminium spheres, serves as a “luminous focal point within the overall composition.”

Bang & Olufsen Limited Editions

Both editions deploy the angular, 360-degree design of the classic Beolab 90 speaker, with each driver firing in a different direction to help disperse sound around the room. The towers house a total of 18 drivers: seven 30mm tweeters, seven 8.6cm midrange drivers, three 21cm side and rear woofers, and a single 26cm front woofer.

Limited to just ten pairs per edition, each pair is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. You also get a miniature aluminium Beolab 90 sculpture of the corresponding edition, presented in a custom aluminium delivery box - much better than simply showing people a photo of your speakers.

If you fancy being one of Bang & Olufsen’s more discerning clients, the price of entry to this exclusive club is £410,000 | €480,000 per pair, for the Zenith or the Monarch Edition.
