Tokyo-based Hiroshi Fujiwara has been connected to Bang & Olufsen for over three decades, with the company’s designs accompanying him through various studios and cities.

A pioneering DJ and cultural force in Tokyo, Fujiwara helped shape Japan’s creative landscape in the 1990s. He brought Bang & Olufsen’s products to the forefront, introducing them to a new audience. This connection has never faded. It now finds clarity in a limited-edition collection. The collection brings a contemporary perspective to the brand’s enduring design principles. Iconic products are reinterpreted through Fragment’s refined, restrained aesthetic.

The new collection features Fragment’s monochrome black and Bang & Olufsen’s precision-milled aluminium. It includes the portable Beosound A1 speaker, over-ear Beoplay H100 headphones, modular Beosound Shape wall speaker, and the classic Beosystem 9000c sound system.

Hiroshi Fujiwara, Founder of Fragment Design, told StereoNET:

This collaboration has been a long-time dream of mine. Since building my home around Bang & Olufsen’s integrated home sound system in the 1990s, the brand has been my first choice for audio. This collaboration feels like a meaningful continuation of our journey together.

Drawing on decades of working with aluminium, Bang & Olufsen presents an ideal canvas for Fragment’s iconic black. For the first time, a highly specialised anodisation and hand-polishing process has been applied to select portable products. This produces a distinctive, “liquid-like, high-gloss finish.”

Each piece in the collection features Fragment’s distinctive double lightning bolt and wordmark. The Beoplay H100 displays the logo on the left ear cup, complemented by high-gloss aluminium accents.

The Beosound A1 mirrors the motif beneath the grille, while the curated configuration of seven Beosound Shape tiles combines black and grey fabric in a subtle flower-inspired arrangement, finished with an aluminium logo tag.

The Beosound 9000c is paired with Beolab 28 loudspeakers and a Beoremote One. It combines matte black surfaces with glossy natural aluminium. Both collaborators’ marks appear on the CD clamp and speaker stands.

The collection will debut exclusively at a dedicated pop-up inside Isetan Department Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo, from 20–26 May. It will then be available across Japan from 27 May, with a global release on 3 June.

The Beoplay H100 (RRP €1,950 | $2,400 | ¥297,000), Beosound A1 3rd Gen (RRP €399 | $475 | ¥60,800), and the Beosound Shape (RRP €6,000 | $7,100 | ¥1,066,300) will be available worldwide.

The made‑to‑order Beosystem 9000c setup (RRP €60,000 | $69,650 | ¥10,662,900) will remain exclusive to Japan.
