Presented under the theme From Quarry to Garden: The Shape of Beautiful Sound, the project offers an early look at what Bang & Olufsen describes as a forthcoming “landscape speaker”, designed specifically for outdoor environments.

Bang & Olufsen is light on the technical side for now, but you can see where this is coming from. It builds on products like the Beosound Bollard, designed to blend into the landscape rather than sit on top of it. Rather than focusing on specifications, the installation explores how sound, materials, and space interact, combining Bang & Olufsen’s aluminium-based acoustic design with Antolini’s natural stone surfaces.

The concept, previewed as part of an immersive installation in Antolini’s Milan showroom, positions audio as an architectural element — something integrated into the environment rather than placed within it.

At the centre of the collaboration is a new speaker form, developed through Bang & Olufsen’s Atelier programme, that blends precision-engineered aluminium with natural stone finishes. The result is less a traditional loudspeaker and more a sculptural object designed to sit within outdoor spaces such as gardens and terraces.

The installation leans into that idea. Visitors move through a space filled with greenery, stone and water, set up to show how sound can shape the feel of an environment, not just play within it.

Bang & Olufsen says the project is intended to extend its long-standing focus on the relationship between technology, materials and space beyond the traditional listening room, pointing instead towards a more integrated approach to audio in architectural settings.

The collaboration was formally introduced during a private launch event in Milan, where the two brands hosted an evening showcasing the installation alongside a curated sound experience and live performance.

No confirmed release timing has been announced for the outdoor speaker concept.

Milan Design Week 2026 runs from 20 to 26 April, once again turning the Italian design capital into a showcase for new thinking across furniture, materials, architecture and sound.
