Bang & Olufsen Beosound Premiere Soundbar - A Sculptural Masterpiece

Bang & Olufsen's Premiere Dolby Atmos soundbar promises an artfully crafted three-dimensional spatial audio experience.
Bang & Olufsen’s new Beosound Premiere is a “bold and sculptural” soundbar designed to wow those looking to add premium-priced spatial audio to their box sets and blockbusters without the clutter of wires and extra boxes.

The 7.1.4 soundbar offers Dolby Atmos and Bang & Olufsen’s Wide Stage Technology, which B&O says uses custom signal processing to create the illusion of additional external speakers covering a claimed frequency range of 32 Hz-23kHz.
Able to be wall-mounted (16x93.2x13.3mm [HxWxD]) or used with the table stand (17.2x93.2x12.1mm [HxWxD]), the soundbar blends artistic design with home cinema function. Crafted from pure aluminium in collaboration with experts at Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark, the chassis is pearl-blasted for a matte satin finish.

Kristian Teär, CEO of Bang & Olufsen, told StereoNET:
Beosound Premiere transcends the conventional soundbar – it is a sculptural masterpiece and bold expression of acoustic artistry.

The brand sets itself apart by leaving ten speaker drivers exposed, rather than hiding them under a grille, with the up-firing tweeter as the centrepiece, designed to "capture the eye like a jewel through turned aluminium." The 1,925 tiny perforations machined into the up-firing driver commemorate the company's founding year.

That said, optional fabric or wooden covers will be available for an extra cost. The latter are made from a single piece of wood, part precision-milled, part hand-formed, of course.
Inside the soundbar are 90 LEDs that create an “ethereal glow” responsive to user preferences.

You can also add additional Bang & Olufsen speakers through the Beolink Surround feature. Meanwhile, the soundbar supports Wi-Fi, Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth 5.4, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Deezer Connect. Wired connections include HDMI eARC, analogue audio via a USB-C and 3.5 mm passive jack adaptor, and an Ethernet switch with three 1Gbit ports, with one port assigned to the TV.

The Beosound Premier launches at £3,900 | €4,900 | US$5,800 for the Natural Aluminium finish, so it will have to impress sonically as well as visually, given its price point, which is around twice that of KEF’s XIO we recently reviewed.
The Beosound Premiere will also be available in Gold Tone or Black Anthracite as of next year.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
