these seem to swivel, but am unclear if the actual LED part can be pulled out ? there seem to be two types of prongs that LED downlight use and unclear with these ones.

just hoping someone is familiar wiht the brand or knows these and can let me know how to change the led out.

I'm hoping I dont have to change the whole fitment !!!

I'd ask my brother in law who put in for me, but he has had his best friend pass away wiht cancer and doesnt really need me bothering him about something like this right now.

ps I have been down to bunnings and cant see anything remotely similar !

thanks in advance.

oh no,  I dont want to replace a halogen with an LED. It already is an LED. the question is its LED replaceable ? it swivels sound in the holder. just unsure if can be replaced. while I could completely pull the previous light fitting out and replace with a whole new LED fitment. am hoping the LED light itself thats blown can be changed over :)

closest have found on the internet is this,

but bunnings doesnt seem to have anything like those

and the replaceable LED lights they have seem to have two different prong style. just wondering if I can replace the LED light itself or am I stuck wiht replacing the entire LED unit !

You might have to remove the entire housing out and have a look. If the bulb can be removed you might in luck. From the outside it looks like it does. Have a look a these two links:

They sounded Aussies to me. :)

yeah am hoping its a "bulb" that I can pop out without having to remove the whole receptacle/unit. theres chance I'll damage plaster, and only painted the room there wiht our renovations less than a year ago.

d@mn LEDs dont let anyone tell you they are forever !

it will be an expensive replacement too..vs the les than $1 to couple of bucks a standard globe used to cost. Grrrrr !

these are the two style "bulbs" have seen in bunnings,

note the two different end prongs/connector style. not sure of they both lever out.

can only hope its not a screw in type...or no amount of levering out will help ! :D

The one in the first image isn't a bulb and isn't replaceable.

Like all things there are GOOD LED's and BAD LED's.... the bad ones go pop pretty quickly.

I work for a lighting manufacturer :)

I would be contacting who ever supplied it to you and asked whether the LED itself is replaceable and not the housing and if it is what is the product code and where can it be purchased.

I've just had all 32 LED replaced for free under the government halogen replacement scheme, the disappointment is that it's compatible to the old halogen housing and adaptable to the SMPS that's used so the SMPS is still there, therefore a 7w LED will cost you 17w but still way better than 60w usage out of a 50w halogen light. I made sure the LEDS they replaced are replaceable and kept a few boxes with the product code. The funny thing is that I don't even use any of these 32 down lights! I have a separate circuit that runs separate lighting.

thats the problem, as per opening post...brother in law involved...and rather not bother him right now with what he's dealing with. good idea on keeping the boxes and code ! of course I think we threw ours out.

Bloody down lights are a scourge

Yep, the unit in your original post.

Sorry to say it but it looks like a pretty typical cheap chinese downlight :(

How many do you need to replace and what is the hole size?

Top image, with pins with "knobs" on the end are 240 volt. Twist fit.

Second image shows 12 volt pins. It will have a built in transformer in the fitting. This is likely what is wrong with it. Press fit.

make sure your new fittings are able to have LED's replaced.

A coupla weeks ago I replaced the entire unit that looked just the same as yours. I bought it at Bunnings for about $20.

I noticed replacement osram LEDs. so will be careful. as a bit silly  otherwise to have change the entire light fitting everytime a led goes
