I see series 2 returns on July 15th on FX.

Really enjoyed the first season.

Do you mean the original Danish version or the American re-make?

Great fan of 'Nordic Noir' (The Bridge, The Killing etc), not so sure about the remakes.  There's even one called the The Tunnel!!!

There's somehting about the gloomy atmospheres, matter-of-fact dialogue and great character development that I really like.

I'm watching Unit One ATM.  Also Les Revenants (not Nordic Noir I know).  The Yanks are ballsing that one up as well.

I wasn't aware of the Danish version of The Bridge, but I do really like the acting and what they are doing with the American take on it. The twists and turns are great and it is very hard to pick where this story is heading.

I have watched the Killing and liked both the American and the Danish, but I am waiting for the next season to be released on DVD, before I watch any more of that. I know it was on Foxtel, but I missed it.

Loved both series of the original Bridge. Great characters and atmosphere.

Can't bring myself to watch the American Version (nor the US version of The Returned, which I thought hit just the right tone).

I'm watching The Tunnel at the moment as well. It's quite well done, but less sense of place and doesn't flow as well as the Danish version. The female cop character doesn't come across as quirky enough - people keep having to tell us she's weird. She just seems well...French.

How are you finding Unit One Bronal? I've got it but am yet to watch it. Currently hooked on a Belgian series Salamander. It's positively melodramatic compared to the Scando stuff, but takes you on the journey in a different way.

You learn something every day, just found the Danish version on line at JB's, think I will give it a try.

But, The Bridge and True Detective were probably my two favourite new series for 2013/14 and I had no idea that there was a Nordic version of the first one, I thought the Yanks did a good job of bringing something "new" to the small screen.

Both the US (which I saw first) & the earlier Danish "Bridge" are great. You just have to deal with knowing the plot outcomes in some of the story arcs ... The Swede / Dane cultural differences are a bit too subtle + subtitles! whereas the US / Mex contrast is huge & we just know this stuff anyway. Worth following up on the way the key actresses prepared for their Asperger roles.

Season 2 of the American version has started on Foxtel.

And it is bloody good, I'm loving the tension and how it is building...great new characters...that tattooed lady is fantastic.

Yes, a fan as well

Only watched season 2 ep1 so far.   Rest taped

How screwed up is Dianne Kruger's character with intimacy.

Have just started watching the DVD's of the Danish version and am enjoying it very much.

Loved the Danish version. U.S. Version I couldn't even be bothered with.

I'm not sure season 3 can be as good as the first two now that Martin isn't in it.

Yes, I didn't realise season 2 was the yank version until I was at the video shop, I put it back on the shelf.

I haven't got around to watching the Danish version, I have it.

But I did like the US version it was easy to follow and identify with.

Hi All

Having seen both versions of the Bridge, Danish/ SWedish and American, the American version sems to lack some of the quirkiness of the characters as apposed to the Scandinavian version.

This seems to be something that occurs when American TV tries to do a 'copy' of a program from another country.

Yep, US Bridge went somewhere else for sure - apart from the plot copy of S1 & the asperger female lead, it was a hell of a lot darker. Quirky was subbed for serial deeply disturbed characters, & headed off on its own separate plots for S2&3. The Mex drug gangs gave them plenty of scope for that. Interesting how the US asperger characterisation was carefully pc, compared to the Scandinavian original. It copped a bit of criticism back there in Europe for getting the aspberger stuff off-whack. You could pick it up with some of the clunky gags; quirky gone wrong. Still funny though.

Have started watching the Series 2 of the original and am loving it again.

Ohp!! :D

Love Martin's grin at Saga, his whole face smiles, haha.

Hmm, you might have swung me to try the Yank one @@jamesg11 as I don't mind dark stuff.

Yeah, the chemistry between those two is what makes the show. I thought it only got better towards the end of the second season. Apparently, there's a whole bunch of new characters that Saga takes control of in series three.

The Tunnel looks like a replica of the Saga/Martin relationship. The first episode is 99c in itunes if anyone is interested.
