The Rocket Giotto isn't one? or the Domobar Super Lever?

The link you posted was for the Piccolo

The Rocket & Domobar Super lever are HX machines

Easier to use HX machines and less hastle - hot water on tap to make soups in winter ect ect

Bezzera have the best finish and detail out of all the machines ( except for a couple of specialist makers )

I have tested it and like it a lot - and I would highly recommend it

Best thing about this design is that the head is electrically heated - meaning you can make coffee in 10/15 minutes

Have a Squizz at the Expobar Minore IV, dual boiler that can be had at about $2.5k

Yes. DO NOT BUY ONE.

I bought a Breville 900ES 10 months ago. It's a very similar machine but with a dual boiler and no grinder. I have now been without coffee for 3 weeks and counting.

It started leaking then gushing at the group head after 10 months light ( and gentle) use at about one cup a day max. I called customer service and was told to buy a new rubber gasket, so I bought two figuring they clearly don't last. Well it 80% fixed it for about two try's. Then back to gushing like old faithful. So I swapped in the second gasket, back to gushing after one day. Clearly the problem is not the gasket. So now it's off to an authorised repairer. This things are bloody expensive but the most basic part of the machine where they should spend the design/materials effort is a POS. It's got a 2 year warranty but buggering around for a month getting it back up and running shits me. You also know that it's only got 2 years in it. My only Sunbeam lasted 6 years before it started this crap and it was a third the price.

If you are going to buy a more expensive machine buy something where the money goes into robust materials or good design.

I think you'll find they all need servicing occasionally. Breville or otherwise. As I've already said, I think I've had mine 4 years now. No shim required yet, but if I get my grind/dose wrong It can spew out through the seal.

Every piece of machinery on the earth has a % of product failure, your issue whilst unfortunate, is not representative of the machine. Lots of happy customers out there including at least 3 I know. I had mine serviced once when near new as I wanted the auto volume settings to work. Had it back within a few days but was basically told there are too many variables to expect the 1 shot/2shot buttons to work consistently. I just use the manual button.

The group head gasket should be replaced yearly as the coffee grind just wear it away and result in a poorly pressurised seal

Update. Ok, Breville are ok. I think.

Just got my machine back after the warranty repair. They basically gutted the thing and replaced all the bits related to the seal at both ends. Group head, new double walled baskets and everything north of it, not just the collar. I was surprised how comprehensive a rebuild they did. If anything goes wrong with the seal its not due to an "old" bit. Its all new. Clearly they don't want a grumpy customer coming back.

Currently sItting on a glass of wine while contemplating making coffee with it. Fresh beans in the fridge.

Fridge not good for beans unless you allow them to reach room temp before grinding. If too cold water my condensate on them and clog your grinder.

I'm not sure about that Jake, most burr sets get too hot and scorch the beans anyway

Burnt mud?

yes, perhaps steaming burnt mud :)

The Brevilles and the Sunbeams are very good value for money.

You'd have to spend a lot to get something with which you would make significantly better coffee.

Don't put the beans in the fridge. Store them at room temperature, but keep the bag they are in zipped closed.

Yep, heres my humble little Sunbeam set up, been faithfully working fine now for four years.

I found a Voodoo cord made the burr grinder go a bit finer.

No bag. Beans in tin with one way valve. Also remember i am in Queensland. Heat and humidity most of the year. I was told by a Gloria Jeans owner i know that it makes no difference to lonegivity. I guess its habit more than anything.

Then why put them in the fridge?

Just ordered one of these for "work", not that it will ever get there. I'm keeping it and the Breville dual boiler is going to work. I just think a Breville type machine is a lot less daunting to my staff. Timer to wake it up before we get there is a useful feature too.

Pretty sure Gloria Jeans would go through enough coffee not to notice. Probably using several kg's of beans a day.

I just use the resealable bag with one way valve that my beans come in. Beans only ever go in the freezer here if we won't be needing them for a few days. Then bring out to room temp the night before being required.

Tough little bugger to get fine tuned when wife has decaf mid week... My breville combo could work on the same grinder settings for both beans which made the decaf run a bit fast. This one will take a bit more experimenting to get right.

Wonder if burrs on grinder need to wear slightly. Grinder burn in [emoji12]

Oi!

Turn it on so we can see the PID temp :P

@@joz PID temp says 93, same as my Breville, and the Expobar I demo'ed instore... but my extractions are way hotter than either machine, need to read the manual. I guess like A/C thermostats, they may not be totally accurate, so adjust to taste.

I have an expobar minore II. What's the second switch on the top left for - mine only has one (power)?

separate on/off switch for steam & hot water boiler.

That's a nice improvement. Mine is still going strong after nearly ten years.
