Eversolo T8 Streaming Transport Discussion Thread

Featured Replies

I received my Eversolo T8 Streaming Transport yesterday, and have fired it up for its first runs.  Currently feeding Buchardt A700LE's via coaxial into the Platin Hub (and wisa feed to the speakers)  It was a relatively simple exercise to fire up once I understood the differences between Tidal App and Tidal Connect. The Buchardt's DAC does up to 192 hz/24 bit.  Am also playing some hi-res files from an attached usb drive.

First impressions is that it is nice and quiet!  I'll limit any judgements to that for the moment.  I also recognise that I am using very few features of what is a feature-rich piece of kit.

I'll also be feeding my Anthem AVM90 processor as the DAC (using coaxial) to my theatre system, so will test many other aspects.

Dmp A6

I’ve just got an A6 and am  finding various teething problems, I’m wondering if anyone can assist. I’m playing from tidal so I am interested in tidal connect, and will also use some hard drives.

1. I’ve plugged it into my network via netcomm devices.
2. One guide I found online said I would need to set it up on my laptop / pc first. A bit annoying for people who, increasingly, just use a tablet. Of course they are not alone in this, but is this the case?
3. On the eversolo it doesn’t list network as a source, it says it’s going to iPad, but it’s just like a remote if the source is hardwired, isn’t it?
4. I’m not getting any artwork on the screen.
5. After playing for several days now it’s stalling

Thanks, I found a better video today so I’ll try that too

@Peterbean

There is a Tidal app, and a Connect function for Tidal Connect.  I find it easier to use Tidal Connect.  Just click the Tidal Connect option on the Eversolo, then use your phone/ipad Tidal connection but nominate the Eversolo T8 (or A6) on the screen on your phone. the little speaker box top right of the album art gives you the connect options.

Hows the T8, ive been considering one myself. Love the fact it's got HDD storage.

Glad this thread started, looking forward to reading user thoughts as time goes on. I have a Node N130, I use it as transport, have been toying the idea of a Lumin mini for some time but never pulled the trigger, the Eversolo T8 appealed immediately given it seemed very well made and Eversole are doing a great job of implementing UI and tech with their app options, HDD storage and screen etc.

I'm using a 4TB SSD attached by USB at this stage,

I haven't indexed the drive at this stage, nor acquired an SSD suitable for installation inside the T8.

I'm using a coaxial connection to my DAC (Anthem AVM90) and the T8 handles the dsf files instantaneously, converting them to 176.4 kHz.

Early days yet, and I haven't been able to make any comparisons with other streaming options available to me.

Progress. Key take - I am very happy with this purchase.

The T8 converts dsf files to 176.2 kHz at 24 bit instantaneously, which feeds my Anthem AVM90 (my DAC) via the coaxial spdif option.

The unit is very quiet. The end result (after dac, speakers and room performance) is excellent.

Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect are a doddle to use, as is simple playback from my 4TB SSD attached by usb, using the Files option.

I have indexed my Hi-Res tracks which invovles several situations of multiple albums by the same artist, nicely presented as separate files with album art. The T8 is pedantic with spelling so Black is different to black. Ella Fitzerald and Louis Armstrong appear three times, once with &, with and, and with /. There could have been a fourth combination with a comma (,). There was also a doubling with Eleanor McEvoy (one file used Eleanor Mcevoy). So, a little editing to be done.

I have chosen to exclude Soundtracks and Compilation albums from the Indexing, as the variation in artist name spelling is more common. Some albums with artists in all-capitals is obviously a different artist to the T8.

I have found indexing and re-indexing to not be arduous. My unit is quite fast - perhaps 60 to 90 seconds per 500 tracks. The time is a guess, so don't plan on this exact time. It isn't as slow as some early adopters (or 'got it wrong') would suggest.

New firmware update released today. Fixes about 20 different things, some minor, some more important. Doesn't address everything but is a signific. ant update.

Can it output the dsf files in native resolution or does it have to convert to 176?

DSD Native Support by Output Type

The T8 handles DSD files (DSF, DFF, and SACD ISO) in the following ways:

  • USB Audio Output: Supports up to DSD512 Native. This requires a DAC that supports the UAC (USB Audio Class) standard for native DSD transmission.

  • IIS (I²S) Output: Supports up to DSD512 Native. The T8 features 8 selectable IIS output modes to ensure pin-out compatibility with various DAC brands.

  • Coaxial, Optical, and AES/EBU: These legacy interfaces do not support "Native" DSD in the same sense; they are limited to DoP64 (DSD over PCM).

Key Technical Details

  • Original Sampling Rate Audio Engine (EOS): This proprietary engine bypasses Android's global sample rate conversion (SRC), ensuring that DSD and other high-res files are output at their native sample rate.

  • Isolation: All digital outputs, including USB and IIS, are electrically isolated to prevent electromagnetic interference and ground loop noise from affecting the signal.

  • Precision Timing: The system uses ultra-high precision femtosecond clocks to minimize jitter during DSD transmission.

@Lazz

I am connecting via coaxial, so am limited by the 192/24 that my Dac (Anthem AVM90 processor) can handle.

As @Andythiing has shown, it can do more, but I haven't experienced it .

You could ask Selby Malvern (Hamish) if you are quick - they have a T8 and possible DAC's with different connection connection. They are closing in a few weeks so be quick. Otherwise liase through Andy and we can work something out.

I have just purchased an Eversolo T8 and for the love of trying Tidal Connect won't see the T8 as an option of the list of devices to connect to. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S24 and the Android Tidal Connect app. Spotify Connect works fine no problems. I logged into my Tidal Account directly in the T8's own internal Tidal app, no problems, can stream Tidal content that way, but it's clunky and doesn't see my playlists and all the features I'm used to on Tidal Connect. Have updated firmware on the T8, used both a wired and WiFi connection on the T8, power cycled it, power cycled my WiFi modem and phone and reinstalled Tidal Connect on my phone. Checked the WiFi network and modem and both devices are on the same subnet 192.169.1.?? Tried a different Android device same problem, tried my wife's iPhone same problem. It's annoying and frustrating as they say it is proven feature. I have a Yamaha R-N2000A, and my son a Wiim Ultra, both work fine with Tidal Connect on our same home network. Any help please

Just a heads up guys, contacted Eversolo support and the technical team suggested a factory reset and this worked. The T8 is now visible on Tidal Connect app and can stream direct using Tidal Connect. Shout out to the guys in the Eversolo support team for their help 👍👍

I am loving my T8.

It is feature rich, but my primary enjoyment with it comes from just playing music on it.

Tidal Connect and Qobuz Connect are great, and I rarely need to look at the Eversolo screen (although I can if I wish). And, playing files of my usb-attached ssd is just a breeze.

I haven't proceeded with trying the optical internet connection yet, nor adding installed ssd drives. The 'dopamine' hit from spending money has been avoided, and I'm just enjoying the music.

I've had some guys around for listening sessions, and have mixed up the video presentation I use with the Eversolo. On my Anthem AVM90, I feed audio from the Eversolo T8 and video from my Apple TV 4K. So the screen shows either the Eversolo display panel (I mirror my iphone onto the Apple TV) or a YouTube 4K geographic video. Great viewing, very relaxing, and 'huge' VU meters if I am mirroring the Eversolo display :).
