  • Isn't it time these condescending comments about China's industries were put to rest? It seems there is quite a lot of high quality electroniccs coming out of China, HiFi not excluded. In the lat

  • Despite some of the hysteria disseminated in this thread my Luxman is a superb example of industrial design and quality and it would probably outlive anybody in this thread.  (psst, I don't give

  • It is highly likely that Luxman cater to their demographic i.e. people like myself who are over 60 years of age  and have achieved "financial control" of their lives and can afford to indulge in  luxu

@velvetanonblue Again, how does any of your argument relate to the differences in sound quality - which is what the OP wants to know?

So far all of your rhetoric is premised on your statements that if it's made in Japan it must be better than if it's made in China. But is the sound better and in what way? What, if any, Luxman products have you listened to? Otherwise, all you are doing is pushing an assumption.

BTW, I have owned four Accuphase products and two Luxman, and thought they were all very good. I couldn't care less where they were made. My ears and eyes tell me all I need to know.

Having known people who owned some luxman pieces and having demo'd a few myself, along with modern accuphase, modern accuphase seems like a significant step up from luxman, also including vintage luxman/accuphase. There are a few famous pieces like m7i and etc, they're not that good compared to accuphase equivalents but are quite famous

How do you know this information?

It's actually fairly common knowledge to those of us working within the industry.

I don't think anyone can doubt Accuphase's impeccable quality and philosophy in what they do.

I do think there is some unnecessary hate on Luxman here though or a very real axe to grind.

I have been to a lot of product launches and presentations in my 20 years in this industry. The most recent Luxman one was around 6-7 years ago at the old Stereophonic shop. I can't now recall which products or range it was launching, but I remember being mindblown at the attention to detail when it came to circuitboard design and materials, and how many iterations they would go through - both subjectively and objectively before a product was consider finished. They talked about products that never made it to market because it just wasn't good enough to wear the Luxman badge.

I could go on, but to this day my opinion of Luxman had been changed since that 1.5 hours of insight I got from the engineers themselves.

Because you're biased and sunk

In your qualified opinion? You are very wrong , and you insult me. Give me some evidence that I am biased, as my statement that I own 2 Luxman items doesn't crack it. You have no idea about me, my other items, or shopping indicators or dreams.

All I am doing is sharing facts

Golly, I missed that entirely. You did dredge up some irrelevant comparison stuff from the 90s era, were told as much, and you didn't acknowledge that. Your chaotic lines of argument are like a high-school 'clear thinking' exercise.

One of them being made entirely in Japan and the other partly in China alone should tell you that they're not comparable.

So we see that Luxman has been bought by a Chinese company. I have seen no evidence that their high manufacturing standards have been compromised, that any parts or manufacture have been outsourced, or that there is any Chinese influence at all on the finished products. You seem to be guessing otherwise.

For years, there has been a long waiting period for Luxman products, because people love the sound that they produce. Any suggestion that they are bought just for snob value or whatever, is entirely yours.

I was at that launch @Marc and if I remember correctly they spent about 20 minutes just talking about their proprietary mechs for their SACD players.

Perhaps you're right, so I apologise for that if so. And no it's not attention seeking or some youtube channel and I'm not purposefully trying to do anything purposefully negative.

How do you know this information?

Ive been working in this industry for a lazy 31 years thus far...
