Headphone amp suggestions but with how to connect to main system

Featured Replies

Hi All

Wondering how i integrate a headphone amp in to my system to be able to listen to my streaming and my Vinyl setup.

I have a Prima Luna Evo 400 preamp, how would i connect a headphone amp to this so that i can listen to both sides of my system.

Also looking for recommendations for headphone amp to run my Focal Radiances

Budget below $1000

Given the evo 400 has a tape out output you could potentially plug in the headphone amp to this and get an output that’s not affected by the volume control.

In theory the tape out is a signal coming from the input of your preamp prior to the volume control. You’d need to use the volume control on the headphone amp.

There’s a lot of choices for headphone amps but for something simple which perform really well for the money have a look at Graham Slee Audio which are sold by Wyndham Audio. I’ve got the Ultra Linear Diamond on the loaner programme and it compares very well to my Benchmark HPA4 at a substantially cheaper price.

If both outputs are active then yes,  and most likely they are,  all my pre's have both balanced and single ended out, I often have used the balanced to an amp and the SE to subs,  works fine with a little gain correction on the subs,  in your case it makes no difference if the SE out has lower gain.
