AR Sugden Connoisseur BD1 & 2 Motor Suspension Repair(early)

Not sure how long this link will stay alive, but it’s for the suspension kit for early Connoisseur BD1 & 2.

If the link is no good, you can rebuild the early motor suspension systems with four orings and three zip ties.

Oring sizes:

3 x 10mm ID 2mm thick

1 x 18mm ID 2mm thick

Zip ties:

100mm long x 2.5mm wide.

I have included two photos in this post. The first is of the top plate of the motor. If your top plate looks like this, then these orings and ties will have you back up and running in no time.

The second photo is of the mounting plate that screws to the underside of the platter deck. It’s pretty self-explanatory. The cut outs are to clear the zip ties.

Basically, you remove the motor top plate, and those holes with the crossbar in them is where you zip tie the 10mm orings to. Then you reinstalled the motor top plate. (Note: place witness marks on everything before pulling anything apart, use a sharpy. Otherwise nothing will line up when you go to reassemble everything )

Once the motor top plate is reinstalle, place the modified mounting plate over the motor and attach the orings over the “T” tabs. And that’s it.

Once you reinstall the motor with new mounts, you’ll see it just hangs in mid air. And when you attach the platter belt this will cause the motor pulley to run askew. This is what the 18mm oring is for. There are two hook points, one on the motor and one on the underside of the chassis. The oring goes between these two hooks to pull the motor pulley back in line with the platter.

If you have general DIY skills, its a basic repair. The hardest thing is getting the motor pulley off the shaft during disassembly. It just pushes back on during reassembly.

Hope this helps someone out.
