+1 , pretty much a perfect summary, except I would have used the description "scheissdreck"  ;)

Make mine $40 carton of Stella, Becks, Carlsburg etc from DeVine Cellars.

Stella? I would rather drink VB than Stella . My pommy mates call it wife beater.

Cheers Dave.

  • Lets get this straight. There is NO bad beer. As long as its cold all beer is good. My drink of choice at the moment is Little Creatures Bright Ale or Rodgers for a semi mid strength beer. Fat Yak

  • Dunno Pops, I knocked back (refused) a Carlton Cold at the oldies the other day. They nearly fell over. Musta been in a snobby mood or my taste buds are spoilt now we have Dans in town.

  • Feral Hop Hog was a good tip. I much prefer it to the Little Creatures Pale.   Regular Aussie beers that you can grab at any bottlo Coopers Sparkling is hard to go past.   If you like a stout the

So,

have been trying a bit. As someone noted, I did fall off my chair after seeing the prices! But, I'm not "underwhelmed" by the choice. Saw the "Little Creatures" brewery in Freo today, but was with the kids so I didn't go in. Yet.

Coopers, yes, very nice, had a bottle of Stout with the missus last night.

As for the day-to-day, I'm pretty happy with Boags Draught so far. Will try some others too, and let you know. My guess is I'll be getting a different sort (6 or 12) each time and rotate after a while.

Thanks for the much appreciated advice!

Beto

Good to hear you are settling in Beto.

Be sure to let us know what has taken your fancy and what is a flop.

I'm sure familiarity and bias can close our minds to our local offerings to some degree.

A day trip out to the Swan Valley could be in order for you at some stage. Three brewhouses I can think of off the top of my head, a rum distillery and of course the wineries. The chocolate factory can be fun for the kids too.

Not a WA ale but John Bostons PA is great. Sorry, am digressing to the beer thread.

Nail and Feral come to mind - There's a reason why Feral's Hop Hog has won multiple awards over many years. Its delicious.

There's a great Australian beer news/info site called the Crafty Pint, (http://craftypint.com/) has lots of info about different breweries and beers, broken down by state. Its a bit incomplete as I can think of at least 6 South Australian brewers that aren't listed under 'SA', but its a good start. Check it out!
