Yep! Getting a fair amount of the same.

Would not be so bad if, the messaging company's spam filters kicked in and moved them to spam.

I think it has caught maybe 2 in the last week. Maybe 20+ good emails have ended up in the spam in this time.

Looks like we are on the same spammers list then. 🙃

Same with my Elderly neighbor that I setup an email for years ago. Almost the same spam mails. Though he gets a few more X Rated ones.

I must be lucky. I am subscribed to dozens or maybe even 100+ email lists with that address, yet I get no spam in the inbox AFAICT.

cheers

Do you ever check your spam folder? Do you get many in there?

If not, you must of escaped the dreaded TPG spammers list. 😀

Hi Rocky, not much in spam either. I actually came to TMC via iinet. Yes iinet was acquired by TPG, but maybe that was a different pathway than original TPG customers. Just guessing.

cheers

Grant

I dumped IInet years ago after they offhsored their Call Centre and customer service went downhill. I'm now with Aussie Broadband who i've found to be the best in terms of pricing, customer service and importantly service delivery. But as always, shop around.

  • 2 months later...

I just received yet another attempted MY GOV scam email, but this idiot has sent me a list of 170+ email addresses of potential victims, obviously by mistake, they are all @westnet,com.au, rather than the usual report of some imminent cutoff of service unless I click on the fake MY GOV attached link.

I sent a email to the MY GOV Scam Report with a list of all the compromised email addresses, hopefully they can do something about it.

I still get a few, usually MY GOV related scam emails these days, but as soon as I do, I use my Thunderbird email software and put them in a created DELETE file, so I never get a email from that scammer again, of course you get the pro scammers that will slightly change a sent email address to beat such filters, but even they give up after you have collected most, if not all the email addresses they use.

The fact that I have never used , or intend to ever use, social media, has probably been the main factor to me getting a order of magnitude Less scam email than a lot of people.

I also rarely, if ever, use my phone for emails, so that has kept the scammers at bay as well.

Well iinet have just announced this morning that they were hacked on Saturday

email, names, addresses, phone numbers and some passwords. they will send you an email in 24 to 48 hours to inform you if your details were compromised. if you are with the Messaging company your details could still be at risk via the iinet toolbox login. ( this info from the the iinet help desk)

Great, just what I need.

My internet went down suddenly the week before last, I couldn't even log into my iiNet account using my phone, it wouldn't recognize my password.

I haven't bothered trying to change it, which seems just as well given this hack, as I would just have to do it again.

Just what I needed after Spam seems to have died down quite a bit in last few months.

IN the recent email from iinet to me

"Based on our investigations to date we have determined that the following information (set out below) relates to you:

Your iiNet email address "

Great, now likely my email address will go out to many more spammers. Let it rain again!

If you click on the link it will ask you to enter your email address and a password, then a popup will appear asking for all your personal details and credit card details.

I entered in two different made up passwords and the popup came up both times, proving it is a scam.

Don't get fooled people, the bastards obviously known subscription renewal time is coming [It auto renewal, so you don't need to do anything], and they are aiming their predatory scam at you.

I've reported both emails by simply forwarding a copy of them to the Messaging Company. at isphishing@abuse.themessaging.co

If you also receive these scam emails you should do the same, instructions on how to do so [depends on which email program you are using] are in the link below.
