Further Information

Luxman PD444 Quartz-Locked Direct-Drive Turntable which caters two tonearms with adjustable distance with RCA Junction Box that has switch between Tonearm A and B.  This was Luxman's flagship direct drive turntable.

The turntable looks slim but extremely heavy and robust due to solid dual metal plates sandwich construction (it weighs 23kg which is two times more than Technics SL1200 MK2).

Two interchangeable tonearm plates are also very solid and made of diecast zinc with an added 5mm extruded aluminium top plate. Very robust and heavy.  It slides smoothly so adjusting mounting distance is a breeze and lock the position with lever and once it is locked, it is rock solid.

It is currently installed Grace G-840F tonearm which is very competent arm and goes well with the turntable.

If new owner does not need the tonearm and just want the turntable, I will reduce $400 off from listed price.

It is Japanese Unit 100V and comes with Tortech high quality stepdown transformer which is included.

Cosmetic condition : very good given the age. Only imperfection is original dustcover near left and right hinge has crack. It is still structrually solid and dustcover works fine.

Mechanical Condition: All functions work as intended.

Description

Quite frequently we encounter strong demand of audio buffs for a turntable which can use a long type tonearm or 2 tonearms.

Strange to say, however, there is no adequate one available on the marketplace.

To cater for such requirements, Luxman decided to develop an epoch-making turntable with provision for two tonearms, including a long one.

The Luxman PD444 is a direct drive quartz locked turntable, and its most outstanding feature is its ability to remove all kinds of external load variation thanks to our exclusive load free spindle system.

Additionally, the PD444 is made extremely resistant to howling and mechanical vibration by means of insulators of a 2-step brake system with the lowest resonant frequency, and an ultra heavy chassis of sandwich structure made from 2 thick iron plates and a high density chipboard.

Needless to say, all the necessary conditions for a high grade player are satisfied.

This makes sense of my luxman amp with two turntable inputs.  Right turntable at the wrong time, glws.

Thank you.

It actually has RCA junction box with a selector switch to select between two tonearms and output either Tonearm A or B so does not require an amp with two phono inputs.

It would look perfect match with Luxman with wooden cheeks which has same wooden colours on sides.
