Hi , last year I went on this journey. Updating a denon dp30l. Finally got to a hifi store without wife or kids in tow and listened to 2 turntables through a quality system, both had ortofon blue carts - project x1 and a rega p3. The rega was too top end in sound, the project muddied boomy bass. I was contualky recommended Thorens. I think is was meant to get an old table, but ended up with a td2015 from a stereo net member. A gamble that paid off and gave great value for money for my $2000 budget. I have since bought a pair of imf studio monitors (1973) and a luxman L58a. They have both been services/ fixed and now I gave a wonderful budget system . The point is listen to some tables foirst. They are all so different. The denon was “ neutral and so is the Thorens. I waited 5 years to hear some tables

Just need the missing “link” if anyone has a lazy on sitting around. Stylus condition is not an issue. I hope all those vinyl post packs I just took to tip were actually empty ? I grew up with a pair of these and were driven by a luxman l58a, could wind the amp up to 10 and everything was ok.

I think my 45w Marantz pm6005 would not drive these. Anyone beg to differ?

Just moved from some ikon on wall to some ( borrowed) vintage imf100s the imfs are better, but not by much. The ribon tweeter set up is wonderful. These are so tempting but I’m slowly working on the next upgrade and not sure wher I am going with size of speakers. These shouldn’t last to long

After playing with some early 80s imf stand mounts and sub tonight and concluding compact floor standers were the go ... then this... this. Glwts, but shows what is worth waiting for.

Out of interest, if you don’t mind my asking, what small, small floor standers did you go with?

That’s fine for you to say, however they need a cooler place, and there is nowhere as cool tassie. Wow, as a Dali fan I’m gobsmacked, and would dearly love to hear these totems.
